Little shout out for Johnny Marr of The Smiths......

"You cannot be influenced by Johnny Marr because he's unique, you cant play what he plays, even he cant play what he plays. Even he is not as good as he is."

so, everybody: yes

argentus: happy, happy, happy... :-)

whaaa: I really could listen to that all night - into the next night. It also reminds me - I need to get out more

Rising Against: :-)

LiveForever8: I go through phases - in and out of different stuff. Sometimes I forget.

I actually forget most of everything I ever know :-) which ends up meaning I never really know anything

about this (How soon...) I loved this one - so much - guess I still do. Thanks for reminding me

Harry made a bareback rider proud and free upon a horse
And a fine coalminer for the NCB that was
A fallen angel and Jesus on the cross
A skating ballerina you should have seen her do the skater's waltz

Some people have got to paint and draw
Harry had to work in clay and stone
Like the waves coming to the shore
It was in his blood and in his bones
Ignored by all the trendy boys in London and in Leeds
He might as well have been making toys or strings of beads
He could not be in the gallery

And then you get an artist says he doesn't want to paint at all
He takes an empty canvas and sticks it on the wall
The birds of a feather all the phonies and all of the fakes
While the dealers they get together
And they decide who gets the breaks
And who's going to be in the gallery

No lies he wouldn't compromise
No junk no bits of string
And all the lies we subsidise
That just don't mean a thing
I've got to say he passed away in obscurity
And now all the vultures are coming down from the tree
So he's going to be in the gallery
_____________

and two more to end the day

I needed to go out and find a little more of your Mr. Gallagher on the guitar - but YouTube wasn't cooperating last night

I'm guessing you're in Noel's camp? :-)

maybe not. I've learned so much - I love this thread

he has a voice - doesn't he?

Mr. Dylan of course - always welcome - with or without his guitar :-)

good song

edit to remove fake video :-)

like I said - YouTube was interfering with my listening pleasure last night

no - not killing the mood - I know! (pretty sure) I've posted a version of that same piece - different video - somewhere...maybe even here :-)

the other I like - but the Paganini makes me crazy

or crazier

I'm firmly in the Noel camp

As for that first video of Noel you posted, I can assure you it is fake. Noel would never play like that. But to see Noel at his best (and most animated) anything from that G-Mex gig is your best bet. That's mainly because of the drugs though.

He's never considered himself a guitarist as such, saying he only played lead guitar in Oasis because he was the best of a bad bunch. He can really play though if he wants to.

This is a more recent gig:

I love it when he plays with an orchestra and the choir.

OK - for your sake then - Noel rules!

:-)

I for sure would never know. Why fake it?

see - I learn stuff here :-)

that's fair - had to work to find that - I do like his voice though

as I'm writing this - I'm listening to the Red Hot Chili Peppers sing "How Deep Is Your Love?" by the Bee Gees :-)

up next - maybe - if I find a good version
