I totally got the song...but, i don't think you can actually say everyone - I'm not, although i'm sure does represent a large proportion of the population. Its all down to ignorance, and what is taught to you. I learned early the what racism was and couldn't understand it or why people felt that way - must have been the quality cartoons i was brought up on.

You must not of watched Bugs Bunny as he has been considered a racist to.
funny I know. If you look for something you will find it or turn it into what ever you want. It boils down to it is are choice to give it strength or let it wither and die.

Here is one of the cartoons that has been banned for racism.

I'm talking with one of my best friends one day and he's telling me about his cousins cracker roommate. he immediately stops and apologizes for using the word cracker. I laughed and said, dude, we're all a little racist. Personally I'm not offended by the word. No matter what the context. So the discussion moves in another direction and at some point he mentions that his dad is from Ireland and my reply was "I didn't know your dad was white". All though my assumption happened to be correct, it was still a fairly racist assumption.
We are all a little racist, but it doesn't mean we can't enjoy a good joke.
Would anyone seriously consider Don Rickles or Carlos Mencia a "Racist"?
All stereotypes have some basis in reality. It's when we use them as a weapon that it becomes wrong.
And there is no such thing as reverse discrimination.

If you are saying that as discrimination is discrimination than I agree with you. But if you are saying that the white race can't be discriminated against than you are just wrong plain and simple.

I did watch bugs, but i didn't see that, or took it like that - i kind of looked at bugs as being panto cartoon. I never took anything from those kinds of cartoons
I'm talking about the 80's ones, the ones that caught the imagination and admiration of my generation

I'm part of your generation only 2 years younger if that is your birthday. So My Little Pony He-Man Thunder Cats, were your speed.
If someone looked for it I am sure they would find something they consider racist. But Looney Tunes come on now you can't beat that classics.

You know what they say, "An eye for an eye, and a... racist joke for a racist joke."

if one race makes a joke about another, its only natural to give them a taste of their own medicine

It's true the toons of our era did help educate us about different cultures a little. It showed us that with any problem people can come together and solve it.

Ant4AU and LeaderofProgress, thank you very much. I figured that it was something relatively simple to do.

I understand what you’re saying; it’s more of a song about the majority. Personally, I like to think that I’m not racist and that I give everyone an equal chance. But then I unrightfully judge someone based on stereotypes that I grew up with, and I feel terrible. Most of the people I know aren’t outright racist, but they do tend to stereotype all the time. I guess, depending on who you talk to (and I would include myself in this), stereotyping is a form of racism.

I, for one, am sick of the blonde jokes.
I've always wondered how these jokes are derived; if blonde/blue eyes is considered "perfect" then why all the jokes? I suppose they formed from stereotypes. I will admit...I do often use "blonde moments" as an excuse for a temporary lapse in intelligence...hehe. if you can't beat em, join em.

Just a little spare change that I'd figure I would share for purposes of Truth.

It deals with slavery, and blame.

If we are going to blame the White race for slavery.

Then we must blame the black race for selling slaves, and the slaughters in the Congo, South Africa, Sudan, Etc...

Then we must blame the Asian race for the Tiananmen Square Massacre, The Deaths of the Cultural Revolution in China, and the Sino-Japanese Wars

Then we must blame the Latino race for the Tlatelolco Massacre, and the widespread government corruption in south American countries.

A few A$$holes do some bad things, and that implicates an entire RACE?

Now THAT, is the Dictionary DEFINITION of Racism.

I do not feel guilty for slavery at all.

I did not participate in it.

To blame me (or the white race) for it, because of the color of skin *is racist*.

Oh, and to answer the question as to how long it takes a race to get out of poverty...

20 years... One generation.

That is IT.

Equal opportunity does not mean equal outcome.

Equal outcome is not Democracy, or Capitalism... it is Socialism, Communism.

Here in the States, we reward hard work and ingenuity.

If you work hard, you can lift your own family out of the gutter, and start your kids off better than you were.

One generation is all that it takes, YOU may not get out of the gutter... but there is no reason that you cannot get your KIDS out of the gutter.

Save up, and send em to collage.

Of course... the only problem with that is... the Single parent rate.

IT is harder to save to get your kids to collage on one parent.

Some interesting information I found that I will share about race and statistics from the US Department of Census.

I will start by saying that cartoon was rightfully banned. I don't feel so much that it was racist in nature but more antagonistic. I felt as if it was pouring salt into an open wound. I would say it would be the equivalent of making a joke about 9/11 and the agony those suffered because of the events that day.

What we need to do is get rid of the damn racial groups that is the start of fixing the problems when we get rid of that we can work our way up.

As for the races the people in these groups have nothing in common; people have been added to other races taken from one race and put into another etc.

Get rid of bloody questions that ask for race unless you want to have more than just 5 or 6 with one not even being a race (latino/hispanic).

Examples

Africa everybody is not apart of the same bloody race because of skin colour; In africa the people on the different sides of Africa have nothing in common pick out an Nigerian, a Ethopian and a South Africa there is no mistaking the 3.

black/african american not a race, not a ethnicity it is a group of people of versus races from africa mixed together with european races.

Europe everybody there is not the same skin colour differs from the region pick out a native of Sweden/Norway or Finland put them against a person that is Basque from Spain some one from Southern Italy and a person from Albania you will notice the difference.

In fact There was more than just the white race a hundred or 2 years ago

You had the Mediterranean race, Nordic race, Alpine race what changed to lump all three into one group populations declining, just like what has happen now with Arabs being consider part of the white race.

Then add the versus groups such as the Celts, Basque and others who look nothing like the people that migrated to there lands.

I would love to see a bunch of racist people get DNA test to see who has what type of ancestry in them, there would be a lot of surprises in the results.

I remember a case that happen in West Virginia around the 20's or 30's when they were doing a census and they could not determine what race the people were and they just we can not determine what race these mountain people are.

Also whats with this topic keeping going back to black and white what about the others perhaps Amerindian anything having to do with slavery and injustices should also bring there genocide.

In the case of the US i'd say about 50 % of all people who came to the country before the 20th century are mixed with something. Similar to which about 40 % of the country is mixed with the only difference here is that we wont say it outloud and the pesky one drop rule bs.

I agree fully with the idea of eliminating race questions on all government and work related forms. It is of no concern what race you are when you are being reviewed for qualifications to perfom a job or getting admission to a school.

The point you made sumarizes so much the attitude that needs to be taken by all. These things that we enjoy so much come from so many ethnic groups across the globe. I think maybe 10 percent of the things most people in the US own are made by people in the US. Most of the food I like to eat comes from so many cultures with so many ethnic groups. Some of the people that I respect the most are of different ethnic backgrounds than mine. It is all about respect and understanding. It isn't even about acceptance but more about respect of yourself and respect of others.

This in a lot of cases, I assume for your situation is because you are good-looking. Its easy for people to stab at what they secretly desire for themselves. I must admit I have been partial to the odd blonde joke myself; which is interesting because up until the time of my puberty; I was white-blonde. But only speaking for myself- I find delight in taking the piss out of most things at times, including myself.
The only correlation between the blonde argument and racism, i think, would be the idea of Eugenics.

But what is the problem with whites being proud to be white? Why is it racism for me to be proud of my heritage, and not be racism if a black or asian or whatnot is proud of their race. There is nothing wrong with being proud of who you are and where you come from.

Good point!

But I think I'd like to add that this is probably where racism starts from! Not saying there is anything racist at all about your feelings, just saying this may be the first step that racists start from.

They become too proud, they feel like they are part of something, and the others are spoiling their proudness. So then the HATRED begins.

the reason I think this is one of the main reasons, is because of sports, and their proudness and ego etc.

Here in the UK, with football/soccer for example, there are some people who support a team SO much, and are SO proud, that the other team becomes their enemy, some of these people have SO much hatred! that it all becomes violent, and sometimes people get killed.

And all over a game? I think racism comes from a similar nature.
