Curve-ball Question on the moon landing?

Question: if one looks at the photo's of Buzz Aldrin on the moon the horizon is very curved. is the moon so small that one sees such a pronounced curve even within a photo showing 50 meters width of the horizon at most?

Not really seeing it. It looks like a flat horizon to me. What throws it off is that the camera is at an angle.

Looks more slanted than curved, even the lander appears to be at an odd angle.

Perhaps the cameras been held crooked?

i can definatly see the curve, but i think its really easy to have this illusion when the camera is at the angle.

good question though, surely the surface should be completely flat?

I don't really see a curve. It looks like a normal horizon to me with some bumps and dips like you would expect from craters at a distance.

Well, the moon has a diameter of 2000 miles.

So, its radius is 1000 miles.

a 1 mile horizon would constitute an angle of .06 degrees.

Sine of .06deg = .99999942

SO... At .06 degrees, you would only have a difference of height (off level) of about .00058 miles (3 feet)

So it would not be visible on the camera.
