That's right, they were peaceful and respectful.
Let me remind you what happened on CNN.
Thousands of peaceful, respectful protesters showed up.
Yet somehow, a reporter digs up the few people with Hitler signs, The only people she wanted on camera were the fringe folks. Of which there were very few. It backfired on her though. You'll notice she started interviewing a man who was well spoken, and had his thoughts together. What did she do? She ran!

Don't stoop to elementary school tactics.

But when they were protesting Bush, that was OK. That was Americans voicing their Constitutional-protected opinions (which it was).

Now, with Obama, you're a racist if you say anything against his plans and programs. You're not allowed to protest against the government. It's wrong to have an opinion that's counter to Obama.

I'm not going to say that nobody is claiming Obama's opponents are racists.
It's an easy charge to make and abused far too often.
But I will say that under Bush, personal Constitutional liberties were curtailed.
Never in U.S. history were protesters forced into "designated free speech areas."
Used to be the entire country was a designated free speech area.

He's totally going to ruin the country. He said... and I quote... "The Constitution is just a GD piece of paper. I'm the President and I can do whatever I want!"

The left feels threatened by the fact that the right and the libertarians have decided to take a page from their playbook. They will stoop to any level to discredit and demonize this movement. The fact that they are now playing the race card shows just how much we've rattled them. Keep them scared.

There is another interview of one of the commentators on CNN calling the protesters whiners on some radio show.

I haven't been able to find a video for it.

They are slandering their freaking audience?

Are they stupid?

It's crazy man.

They aren't supposed to slur the american people like this.

Horrible.

I have not watched the clip, so I am taking the reactions at face value...

It is dangerous and irresponsible when the MEDIA purposely attempts to divide Americans thru embarrassment or ridicule in order to achieve political goals.
To use racism as a devise of corrosion is further crossing the line IMO. Olberman of
all people should understand that this method of POLITICKING is vile and contrary to
his public sentiment towards similar practices. As far as I know his career is built upon
"exposing" the manipulation of masses thru such base and calculated tactics of other entities.

Providing the charge is substantial ( i will watch soon ) I cannot and will not condone any of it. It is up to all of us to be AMERICAN enough to defend the integrity of other Americans when they are being attacked in order to derail and marginalize their valid concerns.

If he wanted to disagree with the politics of the TEA thingies there are many other ways
to go about it, many arguments to be made. But ascribing that an entire mass of people are racist for any reason (unless it was a KKK rally or something) is irresponsible.

This type of marginalizing is not what we need, IT is THE EXACT SAME TACTIC that
MOTIVATED MANY TO ASSUME THAT BE AGAINST THE WAR meant you are UNAMERICAN, UNPATRIOTIC, TERRORIST LOVER... In FACT IT IS THE SAME TACTIC
EMPLOYED WHEN CALLING AMERICANS SOCIALISTS and COMMUNISTS...

I SUGGEST THAT WE ALL REFRAIN FROM USING VICIOUS BUZZ WORDS in order to
achieve cheap political victories...

YOU know how it works, be aware, be "men" and stop the this base, apelike
strategy.

We must resist becoming that which we hate, even when it achieve our intent...

I will be the first to commend you for this statement. I think everyone knows your stance politically here on ATS...but here you have said what is right.

Kudos to you for this.

Yes, I agree that Fox has done this kind of thing in the past.

But this is absolutely disgusting.

The radio show was Don Imus (yes I know)...but he was interviewing someone from the former Clinton Administration....who is on CNN pretty much everyday..and often on Wolf Blitzer.

This shows how the media is portraying the people of this country..no matter who is protesting what.

You know that many of these people weren't protesting Obama himself..they were railing against big government and inflation..which is coming.

Inflation is a tax on everyone..including the poor... and people who don't have health insurance.

The last few days...what the media has done has really sickened me. It's completely different when someone here says something like this..but to have television personalities agree with this is complete nonsense.

People are just worried about their children for cripes sakes...so they called a racist for it?

The media shouldn't attack people like this....it's one thing to ignore them...but to degrade them is so far out of line..

It's just disgraceful.

The media is supposed to be the watchdog of the government. This isn't happening here. They are bashing these people for criticizing the government.

Everyone should be protesting the fed...and why on earth they should be considered racist for this blows my mind.

I'm just angry because this is being perceived as an all Republican deal with the tea parties.

So many of these people were libertarians...who want nothing more than freedom to the individual...all individuals...to be as free as we can possibly be....to break us away from the federal reserve.

I'm just tired of how the media is trying to divide all of us.

We all want the same things in the end...we just want a chance...we don't want to be told what to do.

We are the most charitable country in the world...yet we are involved in so many wars.

Why?

We are charitable because of the people in this country...we have war because of our government...we have inflation from our government who is in cahoots with bankers and big business.

I've seriously just about had it with the stereotyping and the beating down of people....of anyone who just wants to voice their opinion...for whatever reason.

Protesters aren't whiners...i don't care what they are protesting for. They are speaking their mind and trying to be heard..which they have the right to do...no matter how vile or righteous it may seem to the media or our government.

i just want this crap to end. People still have no representative...only an illusion the major networks want us to think exist.

Cripes...we are a better people than this.

Why in the hell aren't we showing it anymore?

Go to 1:12..please.

It's not right.

I agree, the above statements is what motivates me. When media of any sort uses
THIS manipulative tactics it sickens me. I know how it feels, I know how it works, its
so simple to do and it needs to stop.

As far as my politics... I have a hard time because I have seen some very recent
examples of this same tactic coming from the partisan right. I so much want to be consistent in my core belief ( as we know I am not consistent any other way :lol

BUT I do have an ideology and I do want certain things to be achieved. ITs just very
difficult to retain my "standards" when the opposite of my standards is the only game in town. On this thread I have defended the POLITICAL POSITION of people who have called me socialist - and SOCIALIST, in fact three posters on this very thread did it in the last 24 hours...

I was blessed/cursed with being uber perceptive, I had a hell of a time surviving to see my 15th, there are so many angles to this entire mess...

I'm sort of at a loss - There are THREE MAJOR POSITIONS right now - TWO of them sharing a movement, some similar goals - DIFFERENT MOTIVES --- one position is reprehensible to me... As I have said before I think the standard same old GOP
is gone ride the wind and when it come time SHUT THE DOOR IN YOUR FACE -
claim to be all for the constitution- hip with all the rest and then use the momentum
to get back to the same old work...

Anyhow I don't want the GOP anything, but I don't want to see putrid easy fueled
manipulation from either side. This is a warriors job in essence, to be weak or forgiving is to lose, I am just a guitar player who write songs and psycho rants...

I know what you are saying...watched Hannity lately as he turned the entire Atlanta protest into some crazy GOP rally anti obama rally?

I've come a long way from what I originally thought about things when I first posted here...and i'm sure my opinions will change more in the future with the more information that I read.

With the CNN reporter who picked the worst people at the Chicago rally to interview...but then completely disregard the others who were their to protest spending and the fed...it just makes me angry.

Many of the people had anti tax signs...when the actual tax numbers show they get a tax cut...but state taxes have grown all over the place...and the inflation rate will far overtake any tax cut thrown at the middle class.

The poor will be more poor as long as this keeps happening.

Why can't everyone unite on this?

Stop the MSM from trying to divide and mislead us. The problem is right there...so many protesting the fed and they got almost zero airtime.

What do they get instead? A racist label.

I think, if you want to do your part you can make sure that your "men at arms"
are not using the same tactics - e.i name calling intended to create a visceral disgust
aimed at other people, in order to divide and "WIN".

I watched BECK covering the ALAMO TEA, and some of the people and guests
used the words socialists and communists... Wether or not you like it, that is an attempt to marginalize other peoples opinions and perspectives by EQUATING THEM and their thoughts with USA once mortal enemy.

My point is some people agree with the current government actions, for many reasons,
that does not mean it is reasonable to USE such a loaded word with such an ugly history. Because I will tell you IF the real goal is unity, such a statement is received
with ANGER and CLOSED EARS.

Yipee!!! I love these. Although I'm not a frequent poster, I do have a thing for dweebs who 'know it all'.

I know, I know. You're confused.

You must be thinking, "Who's this 'dweeb' that she's so fond of?"

Good question. So, let's play and see:

First round goes to tiger (errrr roar):
Since you quoted David, I'm sure you have ample access to his registered stance on political party to back up your statement about "wrong er right wingers". Although I don't recall this on any ballot I've submitted, I'll assume you are referencing Republican? Please, correct me if I'm wrong in my assessment.

If unable to provide requested evidence, then I'm sure an ATS poll will show the majority of us would be satisfied with a quote, from David, that shows his registered party affiliation.

We'll spring over, in a hippity hop, to round two; once the first round is complete!

Edit: Those little question mark heads were supposed to be way up there ^ in my post. I hated that they waited to the end to show up.

Ya I heard about focusing on the bad people in the rallies in chicago, its a tactic.
As you know I posted the video of the gathering where a man protested college
and a women said burn the books on evolution ( she has been alleged to be a plant ).

My intent was to marginalize that guys thinking in the video... what he said scares the hell out of me... I did not want to make it seem as if everyone gathering is nutty like him - but then again I do not want that GUYS ideas guiding my country...

Do you get that?

in that OP I inadvertently practiced the opposite of what I preach...

I am behind closing the FED - very much so - I don't even know how possible that would be in one fell swoop - aside from full rebellion...

How would you close the FED? If I were president I would Stalin all of them in the FED, but that is why it is good I am not President...

Remember the bloody vampire pictures that were doctored of John McCain? This is no different...and that was on a magazine.

We are all being played into dividing ourselves when we all really want the same thing in the end.

It's really all becoming nothing but diversion.

I don't want any fringe or crazy people running my country either...i just want some honesty...some integrity...and some fiscal responsibility.

I want our country to stop getting involved in every single hissy fit another country has with another...i want our country to be productive again...I want us to have a surplus of money..so when things get bad we will actually have money there and we will be a bit more prepared.

We should prosecute anyone in big business who practices extortion.

Nothing is happening...it wasn't happening under Bush and it's not happening under Obama.

Many of the people at the protests were really there for their children..not for themselves.

I know you agree with Universal Health care.....i'm not particularly against health care...i just don't want the federal government to run it. At least let it be run by the states themselves...and give people choices.

Make it so that state medical care is in competition with insurance based health care.

make them compete and drive prices down. I don't want the government to have any more power than they already have.

There just has to be a better way.

Ok, She was using Bill O'Reilly's fear factor tactics. She might owe him some royalties.

If FOX wouldn't have basically sponsored these event, it would be worthy.

I like and appreciate or military and think it should be funded. This takes tax dollars. I got an idea! Lets just privatize it, we can sell it to Black Water!

I like our roads. This takes tax dollars. Got an idea! Let's just sell the Skyway Bridge and (Indiana) toll road to a Japaneses company. Ops did it. It's a free market ya know!

I like our teachers. But before you blame our teachers on your child's stupidity. Lets ask how much time do you give your own children? I bet not as much as the teacher gives them. Let them play video games, while you work 3 jobs to give them everything. Schools need to be rebuilt with today's technology. This takes tax dollars.

I like our health care system. Lol Opps we don't have one! We have some of the worlds most expensive health care, thanks to the lobbyist (Rep and Dem sponsored) Ever negotiate and price on a car? That's what you do with the drug makers. When your the biggest user, you get the best deal! The rest of the world can pay for the R&D! Not us! We all are paying for the uninsured already! It's factored into your premium. The wait to see a doctor in France is the same hour I wait to see my doctor with an appointment!

Back to taxes... The taxes, including the loopholes for the very rich (top 3%, Net worth over 20 million) and the loopholes for the the very companies that helped get us into this mess, are lower than you pay! We need a consumption tax, a fair Tax, not a flat tax! We need sound money!! Backed on something other that the faith of our government. Do you have any faith in our government?
