Officials Say U.S. Wiretaps Exceeded Law

www.nytimes.com

WASHINGTON — The National Security Agency intercepted private e-mail messages and phone calls of Americans in recent months on a scale that went beyond the broad legal limits established by Congress last year, government officials said in recent interviews.

Several intelligence officials, as well as lawyers briefed about the matter, said the N.S.A. had been engaged in “overcollection” of domestic communications of Americans. They described the practice as significant and systemic, although one

Yea, Ok sorry we unintentionally violated all of you civil rights on accident, please forgive us! Such nonsense, I am sick of the patriot act and what it did to our constitution and our civil rights. Anyone that voted for these bills to become law should be declared traitors and exiled. Any thoughts?

and................ What are they going to do to ensure that this doesn't happen again?

Such a big joke. Why even bother to tell us that they are breaking the law if nobody is going to be held accountable in the first place?

wow.
i cant believe there aren't riots in the streets about THIS.
who's going to be held accountable? who's going to pay for this?
are those illegally obtained wiretaps able to be used as evidence?
Something like this in the 30's pr 40's would have DISBANDED and agency.
Every last person involved with this should be in prison.
this is inexcusable----and it's inexcusable that more people aren't demanding the heads and careers of those responsible!

people have been throwing around the "I'm mad as hell....not gonna take it anymore!" quote left and right.
yet ANOTHER insult to our Constitution and Civil Rights floats by, unnoticed.

It is being noticed and people are mad as hell, but are you willing to risk the current life you have for one that is unknown.

If you are receiving a check or benefit from big brother, would you risk losing it? Big brother just have too many ways to retaliate if you push them over the edge.

The ones who can make the most change is Congress but their too busy spending to care.
