No Charges Against CIA Officials For Waterboarding

Seeking to move beyond what he calls a "a dark and painful chapter in our history," President Barack Obama said Thursday that CIA officials who used harsh interrogation tactics during the Bush administration will not be prosecuted.

The government released four memos in which Bush-era lawyers approved in often graphic detail tough interrogation methods used against 28 terror suspects. The rough tactics range from waterboarding - simulated drowning - to keeping suspects naked.

Okay, this royally irks me, here we have someone who preached he would change the way Washington D.C. operates, but is going right back to exactly the way thinks work as usual.

I never voted for Bush, and I never voted for Obama, I'm glad I'm a registered Independent.

Right now, I would be ashamed to call myself either a Republican or a Democrat.

How many times is Washington going to continually cover-up this kind of crap?

Anyone who says it isn't, is a flat out and out liar.

Yep, court martial the troops but let the main culprits walk. Just doesn't make sense at all.

Didn't Congress give the ones involved retroactive immunity anyway?

Murder an torture is ok too do..that what this seems to be teaching me and the rest of the world. The guikty go free and the good honest ones get the electric chair. Way to go obama

They never send the men in charge to jail.

Just the lowly patsies.

Seems to be a repeating pattern, if you ask me.

I've wondered about this, myself and there's only one reason I can think of why they prosecute the soldiers but not the men in charge - retaliation by leaking security secrets.

I wonder if those CIA guys were charged if they wouldn't be so irked that they might actually do some talking about subjects they aren't supposed to talk about and info the government doesn't want leaked would get out in public.

As far as no charges for water boarding I must agree,it would only make America look worse and plus they were only following orders.Of course this is all IMO....great post,star and flag.

i am sorry but i am one of those who doesnt think this is torture.

reason being most of the left wouldnt give a damn if that was done to bush or cheney.

You have every right to believe that.

Have you ever almost drowned, or known someone who has drowned?

Drowning in itself is a fearful event, and having survived from almost drowning three times, someone holding me down to pour water down my throat is what I see as torture.
