Here's what I'd like to see as a native Texan!

1. A form of government?...... Turn the Government over to The Baptist.

2. Leadership - Who will you turn to?...... Our Lord and Savior and/or Willie Nelson

3. How will you deal with the loss of tens of thousands of jobs from the US agencies leaving Texas. ........ We will run out all the Mexicans and the people that lost Fed jobs can clean motel rooms.

4. Will you go back to the Republic of Texas' old Constitution, or will you make a new one? ......The Holy word will be our guide.

5. What will your currency be? ........The Peso and/or colored beads

6. What will be your foreign policy?...... What's a foreign policy?

7. What will be you domestic policy?...... Some of the Mexican maids and gardeners can stay.

8. What will be your economic policy? ........ Min. Wage will be raised to 12 pesos an hr. time and a half overtime.

any more questions smartass???

Who would be more qualified to answer a question about Texas than a native Texan?

And while I have another opinion I do feel inclined to say that Whaa is qualified to give his opinion... however smart or un-serious it may be.

As for me..... I will be more serious and just say this.... Texas has the most amended state constitution in the US. Our legislators do not believe in vacation politics. And they stand up to Rick Perry when he attempts to pass laws with authority he does not have. I do not think either of us has the proper wherewithall to answer these questions of yours unless we are part of the Texas legislature.

Our State legislators could answer your question best. Perhaps you might consider emailing them and with their approval sharing what you learn from your correspondence with them.

When the person who answer my questions doesn't know what foreign policy is, I'm beginning to get scared...

Well, let me ask you several questions.

Let's say you were President of the Republic of Texas.

One of the most important things to me is social policy. It's very close to me.

I'll give you a list of topics involving social policy, and you tell me what you would do with these topics.

Think about it personally and non-personally.

1. Gay marriage
2. Pornography
3. Abortions
4. Gay adoption
5. Allowing gays into the military
6. Marijuana issues
7. Embryonic stem cell research
8. Death penalty
9. Gun policy
10. Environmental record

Well I am not the president of Texas. And I am not fond of engaging in hyptheticals that don't have much of a chance to see reality. In this case that would be ME becoming the president of Texas.

From the OP

What aspects and opinions would promote or falter Texas from standing as it's own Nation?

Your questions and my opinion on them:

1. Gay marriage- What two consenting adults do behind closed doors is their business not mine.

2. Pornography-Same as answer as answer one.

3. Abortions- Sometimes reality mandates uncomfortable circumstances sometimes... I feel a woman's choice is her choice. As a man I stay out of this issue but honestly, I feel that sometimes their is a valid reason for a woman's choice.

4. Gay adoption- What about it? I have known several Gay parents.

5. Allowing gays into the military- Again see answer one.

6. Marijuana issues-ATS has rules about this. Wrong forum.

7. Embryonic stem cell research-I support it.

8. Death penalty-I support it.

9. Gun policy- Gun Owner.

10. Environmental record- Recycle.

Now these are just my opinions.... Do they promote or falter Texas independence?....

I think they do neither.... I think my opinions are just that opinions..

Now what aspect could promote Texas independence?

LOTS AND LOTS of desert which could be utilized for solar thermal electricity.

What aspect could falter Texas independence?

Another four years of Rick Perry. Four years of Kay Baily wouldn't do us any favors either.

Still, it is my understanding that Kinky is gonna be running again. If Kinky Freeman won then Texas might REALLY go independent.

Look, first off, we can't just "recycle" and that's that.

These answers are far too simple...

I think you will find the answers to your questions here.

Texas Constitution 2000

Since you are either too lazy or not smart enough to Google for information o n Texas Secession, here's a link to what could become the Constitution if it ever comes to pass. Of course, I don't really think you will read it, it's there.

Not that you will agree, because one thing stressed is that of PERSONAL responsibility, not government making the decisions as to how one should live their life.

I'm asking the Texans on here what they want.

I'm not going to google and get the information, because what I might get may not be what you guys want.

So, I supply the questions, you supply the answers...

Why can't we recycle? Would you prefer an end to recycling programs?

You say my answers are simple. What is so complicated about a government taking a hands off approach to the individuals private business? Do you think peoples sexual preferences should be regulated by the government?

IF you find the answers you received to be simple consider that it might be that the questions were not that complicated.

Perhaps you think you can provide better answers? If so lets hear it.

That's not what I meant. I mean that recycling is not able to be your only thing you want for environmental matters.

He meant for me to check the information on my own, that he doesn't want to get the links.

That's not my job here.

If you have a plan, you get the information.

So, since those of us on this thread that were born and live in Texas don't agree with you, you drag your buddy, who does agree with you, over here too show us how wrong we are. You're pathetic.

No offense to you, Chaos.

I didn't drag Chaos over here.

He came on his own.

Titor disrespected the Gungan Council, and so, he felt he should give his own opinion as a Texan.

Oh, wait! How hypocritical! Now you don't want to hear an opinion of a Texan that differs from yours!

Oh, wow...

I seriously can't believe people are still talking like this would even be a possibility. Texas will never be allowed to secede, I do not care what the hell anyone on ATS thinks they know, or how many evangelical, racist idiotic and egotistical Texans think they know. It simply would not be allowed and would not work. Make a check list (which needs to be thousands and thousands of "checks" long) and then run through it. After about 5 minutes of serious, intelligent and informed thought if you come to any other opinion than "it's not possible, and Texas, even if able to secede, would be the biggest (snip) hole north of the equator" then you are either uninformed, unintelligent or stubborn as a rock.
