Gov. Rick Perry: Texas Could Secede, Leave Union

www.huffingtonpost.com

AUSTIN, Texas -- Texas Gov. Rick Perry fired up an anti-tax "tea party" Wednesday with his stance against the federal government and for states' rights as some in his U.S. flag-waving audience shouted, "Secede!"

An animated Perry told the crowd at Austin City Hall -- one of three tea parties he was attending across the state -- that officials in Washington have abandoned the country's founding principles of limited government. He said the federal government is strangling Americans with taxation, spending and debt.

Yeah right like he's going to do that. Perry is a Bilderberg minion, if he does it, it's the plan to create civil war in the US... then the US will fall for real, giving the power to form a new world order, because the goal will have been reached... the US will be dead.

If Perry was a real good guy and pro-liberty, then I would support him... now, not so much.

Perry said nothing during Bush who raped the states power and the constitution. Now Obama is president and he comes again Federal involvement... COME ON.

Might want to have your modulator adjusted, if you think this is a good thing.

And THIS is the first time the middle class gets a tax cut??? You've got to be a real youngster to think that.

No, this whole issue cannot be a good thing for the U.S. as we've come to know it.

Now what was that Titor prediction about a U.S. civil war? Didn't it happen between the traditionally "red" and "blue" states - urban vs. rural?

I'm no youngster and know that the middle class tax cut is our biggest yet. Perry postures to crowds that can be easily led.

Perry can take Texas for all I care -

Then they can protest the fire dept, police and bike lanes...

I wonder how they will like PAYING for all their own roads and infrastructure-

LOWER taxes

Texas can fight Mexico and then wonder where their veg food is going to come from.

Let em eat eachother Texas sucks IMO!

Yeah because Communist California is so much better. Sorry, if one state should be kicked out it's California and most of the US agree on that.

We would be much better without Feinstein and Pelosi, thank you.

And your votes for Hillary Clinton in the primaries, anti-gun laws and your illegal immigrants... sorry, California should be kicked out.

More from the OP source

Perry called his supporters patriots. Later, answering news reporters' questions, Perry suggested Texans might at some point get so fed up they would want to secede from the union, though he said he sees no reason why Texas should do that.

"There's a lot of different scenarios," Perry said. "We've got a great union. There's absolutely no reason to dissolve it. But if Washington continues to thumb their nose at the American people, you know, who knows what might come out of that. But Texas is a very unique place, and we're a pretty independent lot to boot."

Texas will not Secede from the union as long as Perry is the Governor! and OP right now yes its over 20 states that are reasserting their sovereignty but they are a long way from Seceding Texas included!

Interesting. Very interesting.

If Texas were to secede - which I strongly doubt they will - it could very well serve as a catalyst to other like-minded state governments.

I'm not sure that breaking up into several smaller countries is a very good idea at all, but whatever. If that's what people really want to do, it's not like we can stop them.

But we are not a load of baby's who cut and run when the going gets tough.

What about that TEXAS born patriotism?

BE A TRUE PATRIOTIC DESTROY THE UNION -

Texas should invest in Depends and pacifiers!

Each state pays for their own road and other infrastructure. thats were our tax money goes. the FEDS take the money from the states and the people and then tell the states how to spend it.

Texas or any state for that matter would do just fine without the federal government telling them they have to spend x amount of dollars for BS projects instead of spending it on the up keep of roads schools and hospitals.

I'll happily secede with Texas if we can also kick out all politicians who are in bed with the federal government, including Rick Perry. He can take his Trans Texas Corridor with him too because we don't want it.

According to the Houston Chronicle, on January 6, 2009, "In response to public outcry, the ambitious proposal to create the Trans-Texas Corridor network has been dropped and will be replaced with a plan to carry out road projects at an incremental, modest pace".

That means they will just sneak it in a little at a time.

How long have we been on this "state sovereignty" deal? All iv heard is all talk and show by fringe supporters and their politicians and nothing else... I say get it done already, you've been talking for months already
we heard ya so get it done

Considering all these states accepted the stimulus money in anycase, really all this is just a show for the bushie politicians... feel sorry for the fringers who actually think these righty politicians are actually serious... Perry 2012!

In the next 6 months you folks will still be going on about "state sovereignty" and still nothing would have happened...

Don't often agree, but I'm with you on this one. Spent 15 years in the PRC - peoples republic of california - before leaving for freedom in another state. Better yet, let's just dismantle CA. The northern Sierras could be added to Nevada since the people have more in common, and let the "left coast" fend for itself.

100% of taxes taken in this country goes to servicing the interest on the borrowing we do to pay for roads and schools. This mean we are perpetually in debt no matter what we do. Anyone who thinks we actually cut taxes on anyone is misguided at best. No one ever cuts taxes, they just move them, and then people wonder why we suffer from class warfare.
