I try to avoid attaching myself to any kind of ideology, or making it part of my identity
It ends up being a way to blind yourself.
That said, I usually score "left libertarian" on all the Political Compass type of tests.
However I break pretty strongly with traditional liberals on gun control (anti), nuclear power (pro) and a few other issues.
Over the last few years I have developed a pretty intense dislike of the radical right, while they're not inherently any more violent than the far
left, the far left in this country is just too puny and insignificant to worry about, they're mostly funny IMO, but not a real threat.
On the other hand I expect the far right to continue going off the deep end, with carnage as the inevitable result.
We got a little taste of this in Pittsburgh recently, but I expect it to get much worse.
