Right Wing Extremism IS on the rise here in the United States. Millions of people are angry that their life savings are gone and, let's be honest, millions more are pissed a "Negro" is in office. A conservative backlash is going on, more intensely in the South, midwest, and Rocky Mountain states.

While the majority of this is simply private citizens using their constitutional rights, there will be your fringe elements that will use this to their advantage. Just as Hitler managed to use the Jews and Treaty of Versailles as a scapegoat for the economic conditions of Weimar Germany, it would not surprise me in the least if someone with the resources could get 100-200 people to form a militia in some kind of armed resistance.

Yes. I would expect to find more ex and current military in a right wing EXTREMIST group than a left wing EXTREMIST group. Why is that so hard to fathom? Military personnel TEND TO have more right leanings. And some PEOPLE (including those in the military) are EXTREMISTS. Ergo, right wing EXTREMIST groups will have more military people than left wing EXTREMIST groups. It.s really very simple math.
Now that I have explained that, I must say that I have nothing but respect for the American soldier. How they have conducted themselves as individuals in our current theaters of operations has actually RESTORED my pride in America.
Nuff said on that point.
Nothing in that report is any different than they said at least twice during the Bush admin in similar reports about LEFT wing EXTREMISTS.
And the FBI watching these guys has been going on since the civil rights movement and probably before. Hmmm. I wonder why?

Responsibility? Yes. What’s left of the Republican party has a LARGE responsibility in this. When they bow down to people like Rush and make no attempt to reign in these rather LOUD EXTREMIST views, then they have a lot of blame to carry. Should we censor him? Hell no. Let him scream as loud as he wants. But when the Republican leadership not only supports his views but kiss his ass it fans the flames of FEAR. In case you haven’t bothered to look it up yet, that is exactly what fear mongering is.
The Republican party in DC right now is nothing but a bunch of pissed off spoiled children. How any average citizen can associate themselves with these people is beyond me.
And before you totally pigeon hole me. Gun rights ARE civil rights.

It stopped being America a long time ago. Our elected officials haven't been listenting to the will of the people for a long time. The fact that they are pretending these protests didn't take place is disturbing. I hear there may be a march on DC as the next step. I will definately be there if this is true.

Did you see ANY of this "fringe" element you are talking about at any of the tax day protests? There were none. You are doing the same crap the likes of media matters are doing. If you voice your displeasure with what the current president is doing it must be because you are a racist. It must be because it's a black man in office. I'm like Obama in than I am of mixed ethnicity as well. I am half hispanic and half black and I dispise what the man and the rest of our elected officials are doing to our nation. Does that make me a racist? My god peopel like you are the ones making race an issue here.

The reason you are seeing an increase of right-wing extremism, as opposed to the left-wing extremism you saw during the late 60's, is because people are fed up!!! We are fed up with not being listened to by our "elected leaders." We are fed up with not being permitted to petition the government and have our grievances heard! We are fed up with a system that is rigged to favor a very few select individuals.

You see, the "Right" has traditionally been a conservative group - small government, limited interference in State's Rights, fiscal responsibility etc... As one can plainly see we are headed in exactly the opposite direction. Yes, the traditionalists are prepared to fight to take back the country and restore the shinig city on the hill!

Didn't see anything I'd call fringe at the teaparty in Portland, Oregon. Lots of issues were represented with signs, mostly involving spending and loss of freedom but also urges to investigate 911 and pro-labor. No violence of any kind or even, as far as I could see, rudeness. all ages represented. I don't believe it was covered on the 11 pm news on any of the broadcast news stations though. Of course they had to revisit old stories from previous days and talk about the basketball team getting into the finals so probably ran out of time.

I've always been aware that the media has a bias but it wasn't until this presidential campaign that I began to see how one sided it is. Since the election it is so one-sided that it's embarrassing to watch. How can they sleep at night? Ridiculing and dismissing these protests shouldn't surprise me but it does.

Yeh but the whole race thing was kicked up by the liberals and those championing America for putting a black man in charge of a mainly white country. If they hadn't made a fuss about how great it was there would be a lot less people complaining about it now.

Maybe thats because the other parties do not treat them well. I know that is the case in the UK the military is overstretched and underfunded what reason would they have to be loyal to a party that has done that to them or in Americas case will do that to them.

Interesting thoughts earlywatcher kinda reminds me of Hitler's Sturm Abteilung (the SA) not really a good group to be part of once the government has used you to achieve their aims and no longer needs you. But maybe Obama won't stage a repeat of "the Night of the Long Knives" and will keep the CC even after he has secured power to keep the sheep under control.

Personally I think all this extremist claims and such like is a load of . Surely being able to speak freely would mean that you could not be labelled an extremist no matter what side you were on. Or am I just being naive.

I was amazed to just find out that even "snap caps" (fake ammo used to practice loading and unloading) are now sold out and back ordered! IF a civil war really were to happen and you are an urban, liberal, gun-o-phobe, your chances of survival would be just about zero. You'd either die of starvation when your super market is empty after being looted by others like you, those same people will kill you for whatever they think you have (as in Katrina), or you'll try to head for the countryside only to find the rural, "red", conservatives waiting to protect what they have wisely saved or can produce for themselves. War over and liberals reduced to a small minority. Chilling proposition ...
