Well whatever. It is a cool sight. One interesting thing is that the moon always appears large by the horizon but when it's up in the sky, it's tiny. Despite this it's been proven that the "apparent" size of the moon always remains the same, so it's an illusion.

Astronomy is always interesting, I find.

Yeah, it can actually go quite red during an eclipse!

Last February I was down in Costa Rica, and was witness to a damn-near full eclipse. The minutes leading into and out of the eclipse at its apex showed a dark dark blood red moon.

Beautiful to see. If it was a thousand years ago, that s**t probably would have sent me running!
