I already posted some information here about that Skyfloating, it’s from Jacques F. Vallee, and it’s called “Journal of Scientific Exploration”.
8.1 Extracting information from the ASTM Odor Profile Study
The ASTM Odor Profile study tabulated for each odor descriptor the top 5 chemicals (out of
the 160 evaluated) with the highest % Applicability. An extract of this summary is shown in
Table 4. Given that the top 3 descriptors for UFO odors are sulfidic, foul and pungent, we looked
at the top 5 chemicals for each of these descriptors to look for patterns. In the sulfidic category all
the compounds contained sulfur. In the pungent category there is a diverse group of compounds
with no commonality. Two of the top 5 pungent compounds contain sulfur. In the foul category,
organic acids dominate the list. Moreover, three of the 5 compounds contain sulfur. All these
compounds are liquids at room temperature.
We extracted the top chemicals within these 3 ASTM descriptors that shared at least two
UFO odor descriptors. Of the top 15 chemicals, only 4 shared more than one of the top 3 UFO
odor descriptors: Thioglycolic Acid, Thiopene, Pyridine and Butyric Acid. Table 6 lists these 4
chemicals and shows which other UFO odor descriptors they also had a high % of Applicability.

The Cash-Landrum Incident was a reported Unidentified Flying Object sighting from the United States in 1980, which the witnesses insist was responsible for damage to their health. It is one of very few UFO cases to result in criminal court proceedings.
It can be classified as a Close Encounter of the Second Kind, due to its reported physical effects on the witnesses and their automobile.
Skeptic Peter Brooke smith wrote:
"To ufologists, the case is perhaps the most baffling and frustrating of modern times, for what started with solid evidence for a notoriously elusive phenomenon petered out in a maze of dead ends, denials, and perhaps even official deviousness." [1]
The evening of December 29, 1980, Betty Cash, Vickie Landrum and Colby Landrum (Vickie's seven-year-old grandson) were driving home to Dayton, Texas in Cash's Oldsmobile Cutlass after dining out.
At about 9.00 p.m., while driving on an isolated two-lane road in dense woods, the witnesses said they observed a light above some trees. They initially thought the light was an airplane approaching Houston Intercontinental Airport (about 35 miles away) and gave it little notice.
A few minutes later on the winding roads, the witnesses saw what they took to be the same light as before, but it was now much closer and very bright. The light, they would claim, came from a huge diamond-shaped object, which hovered at about treetop level. The object's base was expelling flame and emitting significant heat.
Vickie Landrum told Cash to stop the car, fearing they would be burned if they approached any closer. However, Vickie's opinion of the object quickly changed: a born again Christian, she interpreted the object as a sign of the second coming of Jesus Christ, telling her grandson, "That's Jesus. He will not hurt us." (Clark, 175)
Anxious, Cash considered turning the car around, but abandoned this idea because the road was too narrow and she presumed the car would get stuck on the dirt shoulders, which were soft from that evening's rains.
Cash and Landrum got out of the car to examine the object. Colby was terrified, however, and Vickie Landrum quickly returned to the car to comfort the frantic child. Cash remained outside the car, "mesmerized by the bizarre sight," as Jerome Clark wrote. (Clark, 175) He went on,
The object, intensely bright and a dull metallic silver, was shaped like a huge upright diamond, about the size of the Dayton water tower, with its top and bottom cut off so that they were flat rather than pointed. Small blue lights ringed the center, and periodically over the next few minutes flames shot out of the bottom, flaring outward, creating the effect of a large cone. Every time the fire dissipated, the UFO floated a few feet downwards toward the road. But when the flames blasted out again, the object rose about the same distance." (Clark, 175)
The witnesses said the heat was strong enough to make the car's metal body painful to the touch -- Cash said she had to use her coat to protect her hand from being burnt when she finally re-entered the car. When she touched the car's dashboard, Vickie Landrum's hand pressed into the softened vinyl, leaving an imprint that was evident weeks later. Investigators cited this handprint as proof of the witnesses' account; however, no photograph of the alleged handprint exists.
The object then moved to a point higher in the sky. As it ascended over the treetops, the witnesses claimed that a group of helicopters approached the object and surrounded it in tight formation. Cash and Landrum counted 23 helicopters, and later identified some of them as tandem-rotor CH-47 Chinooks used by military forces worldwide.
With the road now clear, Cash drove on, claiming to see glimpses of the object and the helicopters receding into the distance.
From first sighting the object to its departure, the witnesses said the encounter lasted about 20 minutes. Based on descriptions given in John F. Schuessler's book [2] about the incident, it appears that the observers were southbound on Texas state highway FM 1485/2100 when they claimed to have seen the object. The initial location of the reported object, based on the same descriptions, was just south of Inland Road, approximately at 30°05′33″N 95°06′39″W / 30.0926°N 95.1109°W / 30.0926; -95.1109 .
Health problems
After the UFO and helicopters left, Cash took the Landrums home, then retired for the evening. That night, they all experienced similar symptoms, though Cash to a greater degree. All suffered from nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, generalized weakness, a burning sensation in their eyes, and feeling as though they'd suffered sunburns.
Over the next few days, Cash's symptoms worsened, with many large, painful blisters forming on her skin. When taken to a hospital emergency room on January 3, 1981, Clark writes, Cash "could not walk, and had lost large patches of skin and clumps of hair. She was released after 12 days, though her condition was not much better, and she later returned to the hospital for another 15 days."(Clark, 176)
The Landrums' health was somewhat better, though both suffered from lingering weakness, skin sores and hair loss.
A radiologist who examined the witnesses' medical records for MUFON wrote, "We have strong evidence that these patients have suffered secondary damage to ionizing radiation. It is also possible that there was an infrared or ultraviolet component as well." (quoted in Clark, 176)
However, Brad Sparks contends that, although the symptoms were somewhat similar to those caused by ionizing radiation, the rapidity of onset was only consistent with a massive dose that would have meant certain death in a few days. Since all of the victims lived for years after the incident, Sparks suggests the cause of the symptoms was some kind of chemical contamination, presumably by an aerosol.
He mentioned this very weird event at this XXXXX plant in XXXX in 1992 where he’s been working for 20 years and where he is a foreman now under a new owner. In plain site of crews and a constantly passing train for the salt harvesters, during the night of August 8 1992, in the morning, a set of concentric rings appeared out of nowhere in the salt evaporation ponds to the astonishment of the night crews who where nearby all night.
No body saw or heard anything. Their harvester is 65,000lbs. and makes impressions to only about ½ inch in the salt. These concentric rings where as much as 1 ½ inches in depth. Having perfect 90 deg. angles on one side of an indentation and a perfect curve on the other. The pressure was so great as to make the indentations as smooth as table salt and as hard as rock, as is salt is at this stage anyway. But the smoothness was very unusual. They had the rings destroyed a day or so later with general instruction to not report to or tell people. (probably to avoid traffic in the plant and lost productivity, damage etc.) The Foreman at that time made a drawing, and being an engineer, fortunately included measurements. At the very least this gives us measurements with a fair degree of accuracy. This was a very strange event that left physical evidence without a sighting. The workers out there that night according to the witness who was coming on shift where largely Mexican American and did not know fluent English. But all was shut off so fast that no statements or official inquiry where ever performed.

The incidents that interested me are the alleged incidens in the Soviet Union of ufos nearly launching ICBMs from missile bases. I dont know how true they are but it was recorded in the archives and many eyewitnesses also saw it happen. WHat about the alleged UFO that crashed in the Tien-Shan Mountains in 1991.

What did those rings look like, the way you described them were like the "transporter rings" in Stargate....
At that point the CIA had to make a choice; either to allow this unknown aircraft to stay in the hands of the Mexican government, or to launch the recovery team, supplemented by any required military support, to take the craft. There occurred, however, an event that took the choice out of their hands. High altitude overflights indicated that the convoy had stopped before reaching any inhabited areas or major roads. Recon showed no activity, and radio contact between the Mexican recovery team and its headquarters had ceased. A low altitude, high speed overflight was ordered.
The photos returned by that aircraft showed all trucks and jeeps stopped, some with open doors, and two human bodies laying on the ground beside two vehicles. The decision was immediately made to launch the recovery team, but the actual launching was held up for the arrival of additional equipment and two additional personnel. It was not until 14:38 hrs that the helicopters departed Ft. Bliss.
The four helicopters followed the border down towards Presidio then turned and entered Mexican airspace north of Candelaria. They were over the convoy site at 16:53 hrs. All convoy personnel were dead, most within the trucks. Some recovery team members, dressed in bioprotection suits, reconfigured the straps holding the object on the flatbed truck, then attached them to a cargo cable from the Sea Stallion.
