The CIA is to close down its global network of secret prisons, where “war on terror” suspects were subjected to harsh interrogation techniques, Leon Panetta, the agency’s director, has said.

Private contractors would also no longer be allowed to interrogate prisoners held by the CIA, Panetta said in a letter to CIA employees on Thursday.

“CIA no longer operates detention facilities or black sites and has proposed a plan to decommission the remaining sites,” Panetta was quoted as saying in the letter by the Reuters news agency.

Panetta also said that the CIA had told the US congress that it had captured no new prisoners since he became director in February and the “black sites” were now all empty of prisoners.

Well this is the problem with liars, once they start lying about torturing and killing people.. can we really trust them? Trusting the government is sort of like trusting a cheater. You cheat on your girlfriend, and she tells you, “Go to hell”. You come back and say, “I’ve changed.” Should she take you back?

Panetta says they’re closing the secret prisons and torture centers, but here’s the problem.. if they’re secret how are we supposed to know they’re actually closed!?

How do we know they’re not just renaming the prisons to something like, “happy camps?” Or perhaps not so secret, “Overseas Contingency Operation rehabilitation centers?” For those that didn’t catch on, ‘Global War on Terror’ has already been renamed to ‘Overseas Contingency Operation.’ The same way ‘combat brigades’ has been renamed to ‘advisory and assistance brigades.’ The government is full of funny euphemisms like ‘collateral damage,’ ‘civil disruption,’ ‘economic stimulus.’ Well I wouldn’t make a line to blow Obama just yet comrades. Obama has four more years as dictator in chief, and he has yet to get rid of all of those executive privileges that Cheney created.
