One of the reasons why we should fear China is one of several reasons, take a pick.

China has the biggest gold reserve in the world, and it's increasing by the second.

China is developing it's own advanced aircraft, and are also lisencing production of russian planes.

China has a wast human work force, if they get the plans and everything is set up, I belive they can build a carrier alot faster then 2015.
But most likly, China will eighter go for the Kiev class, VTOL assault cruiser, or even "escort carrier" size, small, fast and more to buid.

China is in deeper economic trouble than the U.S. If economic conditions limit our ability to make war, the same will be much more true for them (and for the Russians as well).

The real threat now that the superpower and mini-superpowers are ailing will be many regional conflicts as really impoverished countries fight over limited resources.

Although technology has long moved on the works of Alfred Thayer Mahan still remain very relevant today . Control of the sea lanes still equates to control of the globe . Historically Germany very much suffered during the Battle of the Atlantic because they were lacking a naval air arm . The USN flat tops cant be as invincible as the keyboards warriors would have you believe . Never the less they are still an important part of the USN .

IMO the US cant afford to fight the war on terror and prepare for a convental war against China . The US should just focus on counter insurgency warfare and not half hearty prepare for anything else .

They won't need it, the Chinese will either steal ours (after they launch neutron bombs) or they will just use Russia's aircraft carriers. I say, let them eat fish.

Or the third oprion they could cash in some of the $US1.8 trillion dollars the US Government owes them and buy the entire carrier fleet, support ships etc and still have hundreds of billions left over.

Not true, the difference is Chinese cash reserves are the largest in the world. They have a foreign debt of about $US400 billion compared to America's of about $US12 trillion. The Chinese have actually increased their military budget this year.
America is in serious trouble. The Chinese don't have to go to war with America, they just want the US to but out of their backyard.

Never said they didnt but the fact remains China steals technology. I thought this was about a future ChiCom carrier and not about the B-2 or the American Space program

AS does America and every other country. America has stolen plenty of 'secrets'. You can't bitch about the Chinese for playing catchup. Besides stealing is the capitalist way.

O'rly? You an apologist for the Chinese now?
If "stealing" is the capitalist way, as you so claim, then apparently, the former USSR did not get the memo because despite all the "stealing" they were doing, they ended in epic failure.....which kinda puts a hefty dent in your above quoted assertion/logic.

Easy on the personal attacks.

Neither side of the fence is an innocent party when it comes to lifting successful designs from other countries and passing them off as their own.

Where does this inane notion come from that war is a fair and level playing field?

Exactly we "Borrowed" Some concepts from the old Former Soviets. We had better teams and freer competition so the ideas actually flew while they were bogged down by the old style communist bureaucracy.

Everybody steels ideas from each other.

Anybody remember when Russia "Borrowed our design" Ha now if that isn't a stolen design what is?

Please enough American chest beating, America stole many things as does everyone else. America industrial espionage was second to none. And yes stealing is part of capitalism - capitalism encourages it.

Well you should study history a bit more, you could do some reading on the USSR. Many factors contributed to their downfall - a backward, inefficient economy, authoritarian rule among many other things.

I'm not sure if it was this thread or another, where the standard of American education came up, it seems though you have proven my point. Thanks

BTW, China has learnt from the USSR's mistakes and have been gradually reducing the controls over her people, while not being democratic, China is no long Communist either. It is ok to make money in China and the Chinese have had 3000 years of being good at it.

]China's goal isn't worl domination it is to be the big boy on their block. It isn't China bombing countries half a world away now is it

What you may interpret as a "personal attack" was a simple question.
Where you offended by the use of "apologist"? Since when has that become classed as a "personal attack"?

Yeah, anyhow, here is somemore of that great Chinese intellectual and scientific "borrowing."

Question: Just because a man steals from his neighbor, does it making stealing 'OK' based upon the inane logic/notion that its 'OK' cause "everybody does it"?

Everyone does indeed do it.

Hence no one can claim the higher moral ground here and berate others for doing what they would gladly do if put in the same situation and have done.

Period. As I said before, war is not fair.

Hey, where is The Godfather of Conspira to tell you to ease up on the personal attacks?

BTW, China has learnt and stolen from....

Fixed.

But of course they could always justify it because America did it with impunity. America even took out the Chinese embassy in Serbia

Alright!

What does that have to do with the price of eggs in china?
So some pilot screws up and bombs the building. If you can prove that was planned I'd love to see your proof.

Yeah, I knew it would not be long before the excuses started to roll out. I find it ironic that China is trying so hard to mimic those it allegedly abhors.
