NEWS: First Midwestern Tornado Outbreak of 2004

After a rampaging line of Severe Thunderstorms which occured Tuesday over the mid Mississippi Valley area... FEMA was called to several areas in the HWODVN Call area after a series of Tornadoes moved through the area. Trained Spotters, Local Law Enforcement, and Public Citizens all now victims to the storms which moved through on April 20th.

ON TUESDAY APRIL 20TH BETWEEN 708 PM AND 715 PM, A TORNADO
TOUCHED DOWN IN CENTRAL CLINTON COUNTY ABOUT 4.5 MILES SOUTHWEST
OF DELMAR...OR 5 MILES NORTHWEST OF WELTON. THE TORNADO WAS
ON THE GROUND ABOUT 1.5 MILES AND WAS ABOUT 100 YARDS WIDE, DAMAGING
A BARN AND METAL OUTBUILDING ON A FARM. A GROUND SURVEY OF
THE DAMAGE ESTIMATED THE WIND AT 75 MPH...WHICH WOULD CATEGORIZE
THE TORNADO AS A LOW-END F1 ON THE FUJITA TORNADO DAMAGE SCALE.

Putnam and Bureau Counties, Illinois Storm Reports:

ON TUESDAY APRIL 20TH BETWEEN 515 PM AND 6 PM...SEVERAL TORNADOES
MOVED NORTHEAST THROUGH SOUTHERN BUREAU AND PUTNAM COUNTIES IN
ILLINOIS.

IN SOUTHERN BUREAU COUNTY...A TORNADO WAS ON THE GROUND ABOUT 1.5
MILES AND WAS ABOUT 100 YARDS WIDE, DAMAGING A BARN...SEVERAL
OUTBUILDINGS AND THE ROOF OF A FARMHOUSE ON A FARM. A GROUND SURVEY
OF THE DAMAGE ESTIMATED THE WIND AT 70 MPH...WHICH WOULD CATEGORIZE
THE TORNADO AS AN F-0 ON THE FUJITA TORNADO DAMAGE SCALE.

Severe Weather did not just break out in Iowa and Illinois, as storms also pushed through Western Illinois, Central Indiana and down to parts of Oklahoma:

This sytem dropped at least 52 reported tornados.

At this time... more severe weather is forecast to continue to pummel the midwest and southern states.

I'm in Chicago, so I had to deal with the local news cast on this for the past two days.

It's spring in the mid west. What can I say?

Hey, I was near one of em. I work for HWODVN. We caught up on the one in Clinton County, and I don't seem to be able to find a thread on this. So therefore I guess it's bliss.

lol... no... I'm talking more about the amounts of tornadoes there were... and the fact that there were F-2's in the Clinton County area. That and I didn't think it'd go there because of how current it was.

I'm looking at the F-2 Val... not specifically the F-0. That and the fact there were 52 tornadoes yesterday total. Granted that isn't the most ever... recalling to May 10 with 70 to 80+ some tornadoes. But, any amount of 10 is a lot.
