I was watching a show on this history channel this morning (I know Viacom propaganda) when the subject of human plagues or virus's was brought up and discussed.

It was mentioned that every 10 years (roughly) there is a big flu or sickness (choose you favorite definition) that spreads and impacts several people. However every 100 years or so there is a big epidemic that spreads quickly and kills millions, the last one being the Spanish flu of the early 1900's.

According to the narrator, this pattern has been fairly consistent threw out recorded human history. That combined with the "sightings" of cigar shaped craft spewing gas before the outbreak of the black plague, made an interesting thought pop in my head.

Have Aliens been periodically infecting the human race through out our history? If so why? IMO it could simply be a preliminary drug test, almost how we test a drug on lab mice before we take it. It could also be an experiment to see how we cope, evolve, or our social behavior during the event; there really could be lot to it.

It could possibly be benevolent, maybe there trying to strengthen the human immune system to the point where it can stand intergalactic viruses (no I don't have a bong in my hand
) making space travel possible.

Take it mind I don't believe what I'm saying, its all just interesting theory that could be plausible, so I won't be offended if you tare into this one.

I’m looking forward to ATS members, thoughts, so please let me know your theory on the matter, or completely reject mine, whatever tickles your cortex.

Good question, anything is possible.I liked the "strengthening humans for intergalactic exposure" theory. You said something about a "cigar shaped object spewing gas before the black plague",could you give me the source for that? The lab rat thing is bad to think of as well, but possible. What if it is just alien diseases spread by accident when they visit Earth?Of course it could just be that there is no alien influence at all(probably more likely).

You don't need aliens. Viruses and bacteria mutate and get stronger over time. That may account for things in the past.
And today, and from some time now, big pharma companies need new diseases from time to time, or they go broke. There are several hypothesis on nasty diseases like Avian Flu, AIDS and others being engineered for purposes unknown (and to make profit)
Actually, it sells more to not make a definite cure of something, just make a drug which partially helps, and gets the virus/bacteria stronger so you have to make another, more potent version of this drug, and so on.

No need for aliens to do it. We are adept at it ourselves.

Good point,it is sad that you are probably right about pharma companies purposefully not making a cure when they could and just making new treatments.$=

ok - can you tell us what the ten / hundred year ` plagues ` were ???????????

because i cannot " fit " known epedemics to your cyclic therory

several empodemics fall outside the ten / hundred year model

and there has been a noted absence of any epedemic when your theory says there should be one

a fatal flaw ?

Well, if you search for a book called "Gods of Eden", you should find that others have pondered about the same thing aswell.

Second line.

I can't remember if it was Nova or the History Channel that had an episode on how viruses etc were formed, one hypothisis was that the strains were introduced by means of meteorites and or stuff coming off of comets into our atmosphere. They made a point on how certain areas of the globe contracted the desease at relatively the same time before the advent of mass transportation.

like i said, this was something i watched on the history channel that stated the viruses seem to have a pattern of decades and century's. This inspired the thought i shared with you, I don't have any dates or sources to back it up, it was just something i thought was some what interesting, and felt like sharing, sorry i wish i could quote sources.

In reply to whomever asked me about the black plague thing, that source was another thread on here, i had read days earlier, (about the cigar shaped craft spewing gas). I know its not reliable either, but keep in mind, i wasn't trying to pass this off as fact, or a provably theory.

Its simply a thought i had, which i couldn't find any other threads on, so i thought i would share.

How long until they release the Zombie virus? I'm stockpiling just in case.

Well anything could be possible, I would imagine that they would try to curb some of the population to make sure we didn't get too out of hand.

If we are to assume this as fact, then another epidemic should be reaching us very soon. H1N5 anyone? That would sound like a reasonable argument, however as one of the above posters said, virus' and bacteria do evolved and get more aggresive, they can also lie in wait dormant, until a certain something makes it's surface.

I think it's plausible that if ETs have been here watching us, they've been doing it for thousands of years, perhaps millions. It would not be far fetched to say that they have manipulated our cultures in some ways.

Did they ever find the reason behind the plague? Or did it just appear and dissapear?

Yes the cause of the plague is said to have been caused by the bacterium yersinia pestis.

It is called bubonic or pneumonic plague. I hope to heck we never have to encounter anything like it, or the living conditions that seemingly incubated it. I can't find how it would have come into existence in such a large supply in the first place though. Must have been a huge, deficient living situation where even the air harbored stagnant qualities.

First, there were multiple examples of the black death, the bubonic plagues. They didn't just go away and neither did people develop immunities to them. Rather, one must remember the real cause of the plague and how it was spread. The plague is caused by a bacteria that is carried by rats and then transferred from one person to another by fleas and flea bites. When rats or fleas are eliminated, then the plague goes away. The plague came in waves and disappeared just as quickly. A couple things, or specific examples, of how the plague diminished are something as simple as the weather, there are fewer fleas in winter than in summer, therefore when winter began the plague drifted away. In addition, in the late 17th century during the plague outbreak in London, the Great London fire burned down a large percentage of the city, especially those areas where the houses were cheap and built close together. This killed or drove away the majority of rats and the plague left with them. Actually, bubonic plague still exists today. An example is, in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains east of Bakersfield, California, hunters and hikers still come down with bubonic plague. However, since it is bacterial, a simple course of antibiotics cures the infection and it is gone. But it does still exist.

That should cover the plague

Also the 16th and 17th century were very "dirty" times for Europe. We've all seen the grooves in the streets where people were simply dumping they're feaces and other bodily fluids into from their window.

No such thing as sterile back then, so the bacteria would have spread even quicker among the poor population.

I wonder how much royalty died during that time? I am assuming they weren't much cleaner than the peasentry, they didn't have indoor plumbing either.

Perhaps the great fire was the work of ET's as their way of saving the populace from the plague. An interesting notion.

Are you kidding? It's well documented that Humans are the only disease on this planet. You think the serial murderer on the news is disconnected from reality? Try being a trillionaire and world power house, then you'll know disconnected.

Those people could literally care less about a human, were literally viewed as cattle. Why would they not release new viruses and diseases to kill us?
