I'm fed up of those who criticise yet do nothing themselves

... in just about every aspect of life possible.

I'm just sick of it.

My neighbour was ranting today about the local hospital, he's having to wait two weeks to see a specialist. Yet this is the same neighbour who's failed to attend 3 hospital appointments in a row because he's "too busy" ... and he never even phoned them to cancel. Yet he criticises the health system & the government for this two week wait.

Another criticises the local social security office because his payments are delayed. Yet he too fails to attend appointments, never sends forms back on time ... and of course it's all the governments fault, never his.

My local village council met last week. It was well advertised in advance. And how many villagers attended ? 4 out of 47. Yet the list of grievances discussed over the last few months is as long as your arm, from parking problems, tv reception, poor roads, litter ... the list's endless ... they stop you in the street & complain about everything ... yet can't be bothered to walk 100 yards to a meeting.

And you see this pattern everywhere. People blaming the government for high taxation but never slow on the uptake when it comes to social security or tax avoidance. Complaining about road congestion but living in a two car household. Complaining about the bus service going off at 6pm ... but never using the bus in a month of Sundays.

They just moan and moan and moan about local & national government failure yet in many cases haven't made any contribution to the public good of any kind whatsoever. Half the time they don't even vote, let alone attend a public meeting or write a letter to their MP or Congressman.

If you're so pissed off with the government & can't be bothered to doing something about it, hows about just shutting up ?

Opt out & just shut your mouth altogether.

Thus spake The Lass.

Hi there!How are you?

As I read this, a question arose in my mind. Are you now doing the exact thing, that you have taken issue with these people over?

You are complaining about them, but what have you done about it?

Have you told them what you have just shared with us?

Have you told them that if they dont like waiting two weeks for an appointment, not to miss their original appointment to begin with?

have you told them, that if they dont want their payments delayed to, follow the rules, and keep your appointments?

have you told them, that if they have all these issues, that they need to actually go to these meetings and have something done about it?

ok, that is more than one question, but they all tie in together

Do not get me wrong, your frustrations are legitimate, however if you stand by and do nothing but complain, you are no better than they are.

So to make a long post short, what have you done about it?

I know what you mean about people who are rude and do not call in advance about their appointments. The specialists at the VA are there only one day a week, and if people do not cancel ahead of schedule, it makes more people wait an already long period of time.

It is also appalling how few people actually take the time out to go to town hall meetings or even school board or parent teacher events. Most don't want to be bothered, and then complain when they don't like something the way it is.

I try to go to as many meetings as possible, and always make my doctor's and specialists' appointments.
