"Humanity, and this planet is in peril, we are dooming ourselves every day we consume garbage and spit it back out. Every time we eat sushi, or buy a burger... some part of this planet paid a heavy price for our consumption."

I will agree pollution is bad, plastic is bad etc.

But...Long before man walked the earth animals were eating other
animals, and so on.

So eating food and being human is not evil.

This self loathing guilt complex needs so time with your local shrink.

i had written quite a bit, well over 3000 characters. thanks to the internet it disappeared while i was writing it. I'll have to go over this again.

if someone else has covered these things, feel free to skip right over this.

Bobbylove321, I have been reading your posts lately, because they show up on the "hot topics" list so often, and i have not yet seen you give credible sources for anything you have posted.
again, LATELY, i have not read your back-posted topics and i do not intend to.

running through the first post, skipping the other pages.

I STRONGLY believe

One thing is FACT.

Two VERY different things, a "Fact" is based on truth and evidence.
a "Belief" is an opinion, which your original post is.
very contradicting.

The reason I believe it's 95% is because that's a great majority of people who either live by the saying "Ignorance is bliss" or are simply distracted by dumb stuff (American Idol, Football, war, money, cars, etc.).

Those things are opinions, And im not quite sure what you mean by "stuff." please clarify further.
American Idol :
This, in my opinion, is a large waste of time. But it can be utilized as a release. Such as laughter, tears etc. in this way it becomes less "Dumb" and more "useful."
everyone needs a laugh.
Football :
Whether you mean the European futbol or the American Pigskin-type, i only disagree in the same aspect as above. Otherwise i am not much of a sports person.
War :
Very obvious one to throw out. Many people see war as stupid, including myself. However some people believe that War is a necessity. These people have opinions.
Money :
Money is only, as far as i am concerned, seen as stupid because of the current crisis. If anyone has a different opinion on why money is "dumb" please reply or U2U me, as soon as its available to me, and i will be more than happy to discuss your thoughts.
Cars :
Cars are, although not environmentally friendly, a wonderful thing.
People use them to commute to work, friends houses, Home etc.
Not everyone can be put on a bike or told to run 40+ miles a day.
i certainly would not be very happy if i was asked, or forced, to bike / jog / walk to work (45 miles there / back) .
Sure, some people live very close to their work places but not all of us enjoy the city life, or the suburb life ETC.
But that's, again, my opinion.

I FEEL that it's coming, and it won't be long. Human evolution is coming, and it's NOT what you think it be either.

You "FEEL" that its coming, Which is again an opinion.
You also have no evidence that this is what will happen, for a given value of "this."
Also, i would like to point out that "its not what you think"
leaves it VERY open for anyone to read, including yourself, and be wrong.

Again, this is all just my opinions on the matter of the first post, i have not taken the time to read all posts after the initial "FACT."

Personally, i believe that we all just need a laugh.

I cannot say what will or won't happen but this whole mind shift or cosmic enlightening (that I hope is real) seems to me to be nothing more than a delusion. And to my friend Twitchomatic, agreed about the statistics. I heard that 2 out of 3 statistics are made up on the spot.

Assuming consecutive events build up from now until 2012 and bring about certain demise, I honestly think 5% remaining is a relatively small percentage compared to how it would play out realistically and based upon the current population.

Catastrophic events "could" drastically reduce the population of earth but either way time will tell and we just might find ourselves completely off, once again....

In a state where a person faces destruction or death you will notice many things happening. One of those is fighting (which is sometimes denial).
Another and sometimes more prominent state of being is the person going into denial in which they accept God to be saved, or say something like "we are going to a better place" to ease their suffering.

If 2012 was made out to be so huge and heard of, which it seems to be, then those who knew about it (which would be many) would usually portray a fight or flight attitude. Or more so a believer or skeptic attitude.

I personally sometimes wonder if this great golden age of enlightenment is nothing more than wishful denial in order to cope with current and possibly impending doom. It seems a little unrealistic but as said before, I "hope" it is global enlightenment if anything happens at all.

Every generation believes itself on the verge of apocalypse, every year more and more theories are put forth as to how our species, our world, and our Universe will ultimately end. To pretend that by pondering the possibilities you have accurately estimated the percentage of people who will survive the apocalypse is silly (especially since you seem very unsure what said apocalypse will be)...

Its all just doom-saying to me, the paranoid will flock to the doom-sayers and the doom-sayers will print books of prediction and fill their flock with fear all while making a quick buck. They're parasites feeding off our natural insecurities by pretending to know when the world will end and how it will end. Its the same bait that religion uses. This whole 2012 thing stems from this paranoia with all sorts of psuedo-scientists and new age preachers claiming they have unraveled the mysteries of the Mayan Calender (while even the experts on the Maya argue over the correct interpretation)...

The world could end any day, in a myriad of different ways. Meteors, stars exploding, super-volcanoes, Nuclear War, etc

One way or another, down the line, 100% of all human beings are doomed, because either we'll evolve into another species, blow ourselves into extinction, or be wiped out by something. Even if we managed to survive unchanged for billions of years the sun would die out, the stars across the Universe would grow old, and the Universe would slowly die (or be reborn after a Big Crunch-Big Band repeat)...

I'm 95% sure that I have no idea how the world, or the human species, will handle a SHTF or apocalyptic world changing scenario...
