A bill to ensure the continued free flow of commerce within the United States and with its global trading partners through secure cyber communications, to provide for the continued development and exploitation of the Internet and intranet communications for such purposes, to provide for the and exploitation of the Internet and intranet communications for such purposes, to provide for the development of a cadre of information technology specialists to improve and maintain effective cybersecurity defenses against disruption, and for other purposes.

Seems as though it offers the official, or the President, the ability to shut down internet in the event of a Cyber-Emergency.

Sponsored by none other than John Rockefeller. How ironic is that? Global information control is coming.

This is disturbing... Say goodbye to the 1st amendment!! How do they decide what a cyber-Emergency is?

Look folks, there is no reason to get all up in arms over this. They are simply appointing a "public" figure so they can go on doing what they've always done.

If you think that the CIA or the NSA hasn't had a internet program running since it's inception then I don't really know what to say. This is just a way of "authenticating" the practice of spying on us via the internet and shutting it down due to a "emergency".

And for the above poster, think Confiker Virus, if that were to go "live" as they state it will, then they could use that to shut down the internet.

It was asked in another thread a few months ago whether it's physically possible to 'turn off' the internet... It's not physically possible at this time. Although, I'm sure many people that have had their service interrupted for any any length of time ... They've desired to reboot the entire internet.

With private corporate policy changes mandated by the federal gov't it could be possible in time, but internet companies are so varied they'd need Level3, GBLX, Verizon, Telia, etc... (Telia being in Sweden).

It's not likely Telia would ever consider our mandates; except Rockefeller is tied Bilderbergs and Sweden being one of the main players there... It could eventually happen. But nothing anytime soon.

This Senate bill is yet another to languish in committee. Hopefully, Rockefeller won't be around to reintroduce it next session or EVER.


EDIT to add: It doesn't matter how they change the wording of the bill; it's completely unacceptable to 'turn off' the internet for any reason. The advisor should concentrate on increasing his 'cyber-security' skills and get medical records etc. out of harms way.
