looks like we wont have much longer to wait to see how this edgy event unfolds.

lots of countries are very nervous about this. hopefully it will turn out to be a false alarm in many respects.

Personally, I cannot wait to get past this and on to the next issue. Luckily, My wife and I are currently in San Francisco, but she is very nervous for her family. It's a tad bit tense around our home with the anticipation.

Well according to the BBC link that the OP provided the launch has taken place.

North Korea appears to have launched a rocket, reports from Japan and South Korea say.

It came a day after Pyongyang said that its preparations for the launch of a communications satellite were complete.

North Korea says it is pursuing peaceful space development, but its neighbours suspect the launch is a cover for a long-range missile test.

There doesn't appear to be any more information, but that can't be a good thing.

If it even heads in the direction of Japan, I think there will be an effort to knock it out of the sky.

It has flown. No idea about it's trajectory, but I do not believe it's been taken down.
