Afternoon ATS members (or evening-morning) I recently watched a fairly long video on Google-video called "the disclosure project" a national press club conference held/directed by Steven M. Greer

It consisted of many, many people, some with high credibility (supposedly), walking up to a podium in front of an audience and video camera's, where they would state there name, professional occupation(s), time served with said occupation, then talk of an event or events they personally experienced of the extraterrestrial nature.

I found some of the stories very thought provoking, others a little mind numbing, I can't deny some were very convincing, however there were definitely people who just seemed, sort of... well for lack of a better word, crazy.

So I guess what I’m getting to is this; Do you think this is real? Because I really cant tell with this one, there are some people who I can't help but believe, and the credibility there profession carries makes there tales even more interesting. Although it could all just be faked, I haven't taken the time to go and back check any of the names given in the video, to see if they exist even.

In my personal opinion, some are true, some not so much, but I’m stuck with my opinions all day, how boring eh?

Here's a link to the video - video.google.com...

So fake, real, or half and half? I look forward to your thoughts ATS members.

P.S. I'm sure there is already a thread on this somewhere, its an old video, but i looked briefly and couldn't find one (sooo many threads on ATS). If that is the case, sorry for the re-post!

I believe Steven Greer went mad or something. Don't know where all the other went.

You only need one to be real. If you are new to this, just remember that.

Also remember that today it will be very hard to tell if it a true ufo, as the worlds powers have there own ufos, so the est cases are in the not to distant past. I choose to ignore all the reports of today, because how would we know if it is ours or theres.

The disclosure project was ok, until greer went of and did his weird stuff, whether this works or not, does nt matter. He will be laeled as fringe now for doing so, and the governemnet can easily get people to ignore him.

He needed to do it in a serious manner, shame really.

Hi dkman222, it’s to bad and really unbelievable that this national press club conference held/directed by Steven M. Greer did not get the attention you normally would expect and what it in fact disserved with information like that, but I will give you my personal opinion about it all.
It is real, no doubt about that, but as they say in Holland “a knife cuts on two sides” and one side is definitely very unpleasant.

It seems they have the best intentions but there is a big difference between experiencing something and believing you've experiencing something. Unfortunately, too many of the disclosure project members fall into the latter.

I believe if a more level headed organizer took this idea and ran with it, then maybe we would have had moderately favorable results. However, the mix of folks that, for lack of a better word, came across as outright nuts ruined it. That and the organizer seemed to have gone mad or something.

Same problem with the X-Conference coming up. Mix a couple of outstanding guests/stories up with the usual nuts the public has come to expect and pretend your doing something good for the Ufology movement. When the end result is nothing but comedy relief.

I would expect that a "disclosure" movement would have better results in 10-20 years, as long as the UFO community does a better job of policing itself in the meantime so the average Joe doesn't chuckle every time someone brings the subject up.

I am really curious about this remark of yours, can you name those of who you think fall into that latter then?

your right on the "experiencing something" aspect, I've had many events in my life (insignificant ones mostly) where different people had completely unique experiences at the same event (accident, 4th of July, meeting, etc, etc)

it could be something completely average which they had a unique experience with, then again, maybe it was something more, i think we all kinda for hope the latter...

edited for grammar.

Yeah, I thought it was going to be bigger, more official and earth-shattering than it was. I am still not convinced by the disclosure project. I think it is just the next evolution of your standard UFO conference.
People get tired of the same people running around the UFO circuit and as their tired old material is gradually discredited or doesn't garner the attention they were hoping for, they create new stories hoping to pump new life into the genre and more often than not(in my humble opinion), further discredit themselves(or are discredited by others).
So, I think they created this to see if they could draw some new and interesting stories into the circuit to pump new life into a dying field...but that's just my take.

Personally, I have yet to see anything I cannot explain away as being mundane and every-day stuff, but I really really want to believe benevolent(attractive would be nice too) humanoid aliens are capable pf picking me up and taking me on a galactic tour in their super cool spacecraft without any ill effects...I mean who wouldn't want that to happen and how rad would that be? This quality makes people like me more likely to believe and we're commonly referred to as suckers.

My mind is still open, but I am afraid the skeptic in me needs more proof, like a club over my head or something. Sometimes I wonder if I missed something or if I am being reasonable, but I can still sleep at night, so...

Can you give me an example of what you think is more earth-shattering then when over twenty military, intelligence, government, corporate and scientific witnesses came forward at the National Press Club in Washington, DC and pronounced the reality of UFOs or extraterrestrial vehicles, extraterrestrial life forms, and resulting advanced energy and propulsion technologies.

PROJECT DESCRIPTION

A CALL ON U.S. CONGRESS FOR HEARINGS & LEGISLATION
To hold open, secrecy-free hearings on the UFO/Extraterrestrial presence on and around Earth.

To hold open hearings on advanced energy and propulsion systems that, when publicly released, will provide solutions to global environmental challenges.

To enact legislation which will ban all space-based weapons.

To enact comprehensive legislation to research, develop and explore space peacefully and cooperatively with all cultures on Earth and in space.
The recorded testimony of scores of military, government and other witnesses to Unidentified Flying Objects and Extraterrestrial events and projects from around the world establishes the existence of a UFO/Extraterrestrial presence on and around Earth.

This recorded testimony consists of dozens of first-hand, often top-secret witnesses to UFO and Extraterrestrial events, internal UFO-related government projects and covert activities, space-based weapons programs, Extraterrestrial Intelligence, and covert, reverse-engineered energy and propulsion system projects. The technologies that are of an Extraterrestrial origin, when publicly released within a planned transition period, will provide solutions to global environmental and security challenges.

These numerous recorded witnesses constitute only a small portion of a vast pool of identified present or former military, intelligence, corporate, aviator, flight control, law enforcement officers, scientists and other witnesses, who will come forward when subpoenaed to testify at Congressional hearings. Without a grant of immunity releasing them from their security oaths, many such unimpeachable witnesses fear to speak out.

The legislation will ban space-based weapons and will help to transform the terrestrial war industry into a world cooperative military (without space weapons), civil, and commercial space industry This will provide unprecedented benefits and opportunities to all on Earth and in space.

Totally...
Having one in my garage would be a nice start.
Seeing it for myself wouldn't hurt.
Anyone know if the (working)UFO Otis T Carr supposedly made is still around?
More physical evidence that really does stand up to severe 'scrutineering'...
Maybe a Geraldo special on exposing what's really at Area 51?

Anything less than physical, right in front of me and undeniably extraterrestrial in origin isn't gonna do it for me...sorry and no offense meant.

By the way, has congress answered the call and put forth legislation as a result of the D.P.? Did the D.P. accomplish their goal? Has congress admitted that the military is shooting at UFOs with energy based weaponry and that they salvage the wreckage to reverse-engineer?
I am not saying this will determine weather or not they are telling the truth, but it would help add credence to their testimonies.

I've seen many of the videos, many of the 'official documents', read many stories and accounts and asked many of the questions of myself. I do have a system of faith and understand what it is to believe in something that cannot be proven, so it's not like I can't accept a truth that has yet to be proven to me. The transient nature of faith is alive and well within me and based on my own experiences, I am apt to believe some things I learn through indirect means.

No contrivance of logic is going to convince me of this one aside from physical, in-the-flesh, indisputable proof. As much as I wanna believe like Mulder does, the Scully in me won't let it happen.

The more I want something to be true, the more I test the idea.

I think what they mean when most say they thought it would be more "earth shattering" than it was is referring to the results and maybe no so much the single event itself (save for some of the claims, which not only made me spit Pepsi out my nose at the time, but also were so funny I had to make a selection of soundbites into some ring tones, lol).

The real earth shattering potential of a properly orchestrated "UFO Disclosure" project or meeting would be what happens next. In this case, nothing happened next, which enabled folks like myself, who are very much on the fence, to toss the whole thing in the trash bin and hope a more competent effort can be made after the dust settles and the damage is undone by the current "disclosure project".

But yeah, when you think about it getting any number of people to stand up in a national press conference and state some of the things they stated, either true or not, is pretty earth shattering, lol. I kept waiting for some of the sane testifiers to start scooting their chairs a little farther away from those with more outlandish claims so as not to get any on them

Pepsi out the nose, eh? That's gotta tickle at least a little.

Yeah, I couldn't watch the whole thing myself. Even if some were totally telling the truth, the fact that they are associated with "the others" killed it for me, but then again, isn't that what the disinformants are hoping for?
There's always gonna be some kind of excuse and so far, I've seen more excuses than proof.

Who was that guy again...Schneider something who used to build DUMBs for the military who blew whistles and was supposedly offed by the PTB in a fake suicide? He had jars of various materials like the stealth coating that would drip off the planes that would exceed mach 10 and get red hot on the outside? What ever happened to the 'evidence' he used to carry around with him? Has anyone run some of that stuff through a mass spectrometer and determined it really is what he claimed it was?

If we can tunnel in the way he talked about, how come we're still doing it the hard way? Where's all of this great technology they say the government is sitting on and how come so many more can keep a secret than can't?

Anyways, I'm outtie.

That would be a nice start indeed, even better when you where able to start its "engine", get it out of your garage, and shoot into the sky or even better space with it.

I suppose that you know how security works on such sensitive projects.
For example,

C: When we landed in Oakland, we knew that we were not going to Florida. But then we went ahead and we were given a little plastic bag. You had to cut “US ARMY” off, you had to cut your name tag off. One thing you never do is take your dog tags off. We took our dog tags off. Every item that could identify you went into that plastic bag. That was held for us there at Ben Hua. That was held for us there until we came back. After the event occurred they put me in this GP… I mean a tent… There was a table there, there was a chair, there was a pad, there was I think a couple of pens but I grabbed a pencil. I was to set there and just put down my thoughts.

K: OK…

C: Anyhow, getting back to the tent, that was all that was there. I went ahead, went in and got bored, and I started to play games of tic-tac-toe. I went outside to smoke and took the paper with me, wadded it up and put it in my pocket. When they found that piece of paper – now remember, all that was on it was just little games of tic-tac-toe – immediately the guy that I always called the colonel who was always there, he came and knocked the cigar out of my mouth and started to cuss at me profusely: “What are you doing out there? Why do you have that?” “You can be shot for having that paper in your pocket.” Why? It was classified waste. You didn’t take paper in there, you took nothing in there. And everything that was in there was to stay there. So everything that I wrote was immediately put into a... into a briefcase, and was taken out of there by special courier. And even though I wrote it, I was no longer cleared to see it any more.

Disclosure Project witness FAA Division Chief John Callahan had pretty convincing evidence in his hands, but even that does not matter.

In his testimony he tells about a 1986 Japanese Airlines 747 flight that was followed by a UFO for 31 minutes over the Alaskan skies. The UFO also trailed a United Airlines flight until the flight landed. There was visual confirmation as well as air-based and ground-based radar confirmation. This event was significant enough for the then FAA Administrator, Admiral Engen, to hold a briefing the next day where the FBI, CIA, President Reagan’s Scientific Study Team, as well as others attended. Videotape radar evidence, air traffic voice communications and paper reports were compiled and presented. At the conclusion of this meeting, the attending CIA members instructed everyone present that ‘”he meeting never took place” and that “this incident was never recorded.” Not realizing that there was additional evidence, they confiscated just the evidence presented, but Mr. Callahan was able to secure videotape and audio evidence of the event.

Well, there is nothing wrong with that, “physical evidence” right in front of you but that count also for me of course would be but sorely fantastic.
Nevertheless, despite the lack of that, I am convinced due the today’s available evidence such as these witness testimonies, footage and such, my personal sighting, my grandpa’s sighting during WWII at sea, that we have ET visitors.

I just sat and watched the entire Disclosure Project video on Youtube. I am 61, well educated, computer systems analyst, and lifelong entrepeneur. Only once in my life have I seen anything in the sky that I knew without doubt was not either a manmade aircraft or a meterorite. I know that nothing manmade could have done what that craft did in the time I watched, the maneuvers it made were simply impossible for anything not intelligently controlled.

That said, I listened carefully to each of the witnesses at the National Press Club conference. IF their credentials are as they say, IF they worked in the areas they said they did, I fail to understand why there should be such disbelief on the part of anyone who watched. None of them appeared to me to be anything but sincere even though obviously nervous about speaking at such an event.

Some of you have made comments about Dr. Greer doing "wacko" things. I would be interested in knowing what was meant by that.

Since several astronauts have made public statements about seeing unknown flying objects when on space missions, and many people involved in such projects are finally coming forward with their story, I fail to understand the abject skepticism I see here.

On Wednesday, May 9th, 2001, over twenty military, intelligence, government, corporate and scientific witnesses came forward at the National Press Club in Washington, DC to establish the reality of UFOs or extraterrestrial vehicles, extraterrestrial life forms, and resulting advanced energy and propulsion technologies. The weight of this first-hand testimony, along with supporting government documentation and other evidence, will establish without any doubt the reality of these phenomena.

The above quote from The Disclosure Project website

A little over 4 months later a terrible event happened in the same Country which caught most of the worlds attention, & perhaps diverted attention away from other things.

I have no evidence to suggest their is an actual connection but it is something that still bothers me. Especially if I assume the Disclosure Project is legitimate.

Very well said

Its interesting that the first ever director of the CIA ,Roscoe Hillenkoetter was calling for U.S. Congressional action as far back as 1960 -perhaps he was aware of something we are not:

"It is time for the truth to be brought out... Behind the scenes high-ranking Air Force officers are soberly concerned about the UFOs. But through official secrecy and ridicule, many citizens are led to believe the unknown flying objects are nonsense.... I urge immediate Congressional action to reduce the dangers from secrecy about unidentified flying objects."
Former CIA Director Vice Admiral Roscoe Hillenkoetter, signed statement to Congress, August 22, 1960.

Heres the full two hour disclosure interviews featuring some very interesting statements made by high ranking individuals with relevant security clearances.
Part 1:
video.google.com...
Part 2:
video.google.com...

I also found this testimony very intriguing:

USAF Radar controller Michael Smith describes how, when UFOs are captured, tracked and plotted on USAF radar, it is standard operating procedure to notify NORAD immediatley;not to write anything down and to keep it to yourself on a strictly need to know basis.
He goes on to say that NORAD informed him to lie to police officers who were reporting UFOs by telling them they were not picking any objects up on radar when in fact they were.

www.youtube.com...
Cheers.
