I have a question, and I would love it if someone can help me answer it. The question may be found at the end of this thorough
intro.
But first, over the last couple of months I had begun to post responses on ATS, after not having been active since summer of '08. The reason I had
not been active is because around late Feb/early March '08 high strangeness began to happen with my personal website and email account after I had
gone on a posting spree in various forums, nothing negative or bad, though; quite the contrary. In fact, the last thing I posted before the
hackattacks began was in a forum against Big Corporate's counter-nutritional slaughter of the average American's health, where I reported that I had
lost 160 pounds over a couple year's time by cutting high fructose corn syrup and other junk out of my diet, and focused on an all-natural organic
diet. After that, all hell broke loose on my website, which I will not name at this time, as that is not the purpose of this thread.
It started with a line of code on the index page which I had not placed there. I would go in and remove the code, only to have more of it appear the
next day or two later. At the time my site only had a "Coming Soon" flash animation on the index page, and the perpetrators went as far as actually
taking the logo down on a few occasions, and leaving only a blank page. One of the messages threatened in programmer's code "EVOL Scapel" as part
of extremely long lines of text and numerals. I was literally in an online tug-of-war struggle with some as-yet unknown party for control of my
website.
So why didn't I call the police? For one, I was experiencing the absolute worst poverty of my life at that time, and was staying by the grace
of God in my apartment after months of not having paid rent. (In previous posts for '08 and before I have mentioned a near-bi-polar emotional
condition I was living with from family problems (plus the poverty); however, upon my return to ATS this year I noticed that those threads in which I
posted have disappeared, which relates to my question at the end.)
My landlord is actually an old acquaintance, and my place is a smaller portion to his larger warehouse, so my being here is not necessarily an
additional expense, so he has been more patient than might be expected. To be honest, I had become absolutely terrified.
I live alone, and although not as a life goal, don't have a lot of friends. It's a secluded artist thing
I think it was in 2007 I mentioned to
Zorgon in a post about aliens that I didn't want to wake up one morning and see black vans parked outside my window. But that is exactly what began
happening. There began to be instances where a car with completely black windows would be parked on the street outside my place in the mornings, and
sometimes in the evenings, on my back street which had little-to-no major traffic at that time. On the fourth of July I went to an event just outside
of west Houston to help a friend set-up for a concert. About half an hour after arriving, a man with jet black sunglasses came and sat and watched me
move from place to place, and finally left about an hour later. A few days after that, I came out of a WalMart several miles from my apartment, and
there was a sleek late model Toyota with black tinted windows, engine running and parked in the space behind my Honda, but the driver's window was
down, and this same man was sitting behind the wheel, same sunglasses, looking mad as hell and watched me get in and drive off. He did not pursue.
After the WalMart episode I would see strangers whom I had never seen before walking the area (I was doing one or two daily walks around several
blocks for exercise). I would come home to a black-windowed vehicle parked in the driveway behind the building I live in, which would either drive
off, or remain until I had gone inside. One morning I left for a walk and passed the rear driveway which was empty, remembered I had forgotten my iPod
and turned immediately around and there was a green car near the dumpster with two guys putting boxes in the dumpster. I cannot offer any scientific
explanation for that, other than
somehow my overly curious eyes looking for anything odd or out-of-place just missed that one. The list of
bizarreness that followed in the days afterward goes on, but that is also not the quest of this thread. I said all that to say this: I did not bring
the authorities in because I was now a nervous wreck in life, and didn't want the whole thing to backfire ("I knew that guy was nuts!!") and end up
with me on the street with nowhere to live, which would have made it more difficult to regain my social stability and grow forward in life.
