And yet again, conflicting wire reports...

Reuters: Japan's PM office said in an email notice that it's announcement had been a mistake. It said the launch had not been confirmed.

According to NHK, Japan government reported a flying object had launched from North korea. but it was a false alarm.

As soon as a link is given, I'll post it

I can not get ahold of my source, as they are on the floor monitoring this now and they are unable to have contact with outside, while on the floor.

Sucks.

Skynews says they are 'about to launch' rocket.

'preparations to launch a satellite are now complete and lift-off is imminent'

I hope it is a dud I would rather see a embarressed limmy then a war over either the US or Japan shooting it down.
But hope for the best and expect the worse.

Hope its a test and it isn;t a payload attached.
I hope noone dies and noone is injured.
But hopefully there won't be any kind of confrontation.
I know tensions are high

Finally. An update.

North Korea rocket looms

The Japanese government says North Korea has not launched a rocket from its Musudan-ri launch pad in the country's northeast, as previously stated by local media.

The US and its regional allies have condemned the plan as provocative and a threat to regional security.

You can only know that for sure after the launch - straight up and it's going into orbit, any indication it's going into an arc and it's coming down somewhere... then the crash site will be pin pointed with greater and greater accuracy as the flight continues and the thing starts it's decent.

Of course if bits go everywhere it's either blown up on it's own or it was taken out by someone!

This is the part that I don't get...
Lets say NK does indeed launch it... Ok... US or Japan or SK will take it down. Retalliation occurs, and NK launches nukes...

Now, my question is, can't they just shoot down the nukes??? I know they have to be detonated (or would it be detonated as it goes down?)?

I just think it's saying that it hasn't been launched yet at all.

A bit of confusion here.
