Any of those, but sadly, they're not here to see this... Reagan saw the beginning but he didn't see this... He got Gorbachev to end the USSR, now we need him to stop the forthcoming USSA... or someone with his ideals and economic policies [/quote

Reagan did?

How so?

Be your own leader, and lead yourself.

Because no political leader on Earth has the intention to provide
his citizens with the rights, support and treatment they deserve.

No doubt

You know I just started this topic because eveyone was bickering about who's leader is the worse, yet no one seems to have a solution.

Scandal? Not really. Ted Kennedy is out having a party with his nephew on the night he brings a girl back to the Kennedy house and rapes that gal and you find out that Ted was out looking to pick up girls 40 years younger than him? Is that a scandal, I think so. It certainly is poor judgement and sufficient to have him not elected again and that was 4 terms ago.

Marion Barry - got him smoking crack on tape and he gets reelected.

Barney Frank - they catch him with his boy toy essentially running a whorehouse out of his Boston townhouse and that was what, 10 terms ago?

Scandals don't matter. These folks have juice and they bring the pork home. You watch Barney Frank and better yet listen to him(his content and not his lisp). There is a dude who is not competent to run a hotdog truck, let alone be the chairman of the House banking committee.

Until you have mandatory term-limits or a serious third party, this thing will never change. The biggest problem we have right now is that we don't have an opposition party. Divided government is the best form of government under our system. Hopefully the Republicans will pick up some seats in '10 so they can blunt this statist agenda.

Exactly when did we the people lose control?

At the point when our own selfishness caused us to care more about the pork were getting and the handouts we were getting became more important than our society at large.

Everyone wants the other guy's gent voted out of office, never their gent. They want the waste cut out of somebody else's backyard, never their own.

Now I fear it is too late. Too many folks dependant on the government. Too much political correctness to cut programs because the impact certain groups. Too many groups like ACORN who steal elections. Too much corruption in the entire election process. Too much corporate and special interest money and influence. We have become too weak to stand and make any real change for fear of losing our stuff.

If we were to vote everyone out of office, regardless of which party they represented, you would definately throw some good folks out of office. Who cares? Until a substantial majority are thrown out, things will never change.

One other thing that is a major part of the problem that often goes unmentioned are the huge congressional staffs, that we pay for, by the way. These folks are in their jobs for years, serve several members of congress and have way more juice than folks actually think they do. Who do you think writes the bills? A congressman or senator? No way. Some do-gooder who went from an Ivy League school, who can't cut it in the real world and is a superb boot-licker goes to DC and gets themselves a job on the hill.

Its all a big joke to the majority of these folks

I think there are reasonable views on both sides of just about every issue and I certainly respect a reasoned view. Liberals should vote for liberals. Conservatives should vote for conservatives. We both simply need to vote for different conservatives and liberals and start the show over again.

If everyone simply made a decision to never vote for someone who is currently in office, in less than 10 years this country would be on track. All the BS about how complex the jobs are, how we NEED folks in the senate who have been there for 20+ years is a bunch of nonsense. If it was not such a dirty, money begging deal and folks knew that they were likely to have only a term in office, better and more qualified people would run for office, certainly the house. You'll seldom hear the elite or the media talk about how the house was designed for citizen legislators, not career politicians.

Voting them out is not that hard, but then again, I hear people complain constantly about how expensive it is to see major league sports. That problem could be solved in a month. Don't go to a game and don't watch a game and don't usethe products of the sponsors. Hell you could solve the problem by simply doing that in 3-4 major media centers. Prices would drop. The folks in this country are too selfish and weak to not pay $100/ticket to go see some half rate NBA team - they most certainly are not going to vote the gent out of office who is filling their pockets with government spiff.

It is going to get worse before it gets better, if ever does get better.
