I'm not really asking for *help* here, I just ordered the parts for my very first self-built computer and would like to see what some of you guys thought.

I'm not a tech-savvy guy by any respects, I just got these bits because I was told by more tech-savvy guys that they were the best for my budget:

AM2+ Phenom II x4 940 3.00 Ghz Quad Core

ASUS M3A78-T AMD790GX

Kingston HyperX 4GB Kit (2x2GB) DDR2 1066

WD SATA 640GB HDD

Inno3D PCI-E 1GB GTX 285

Pioneer BDC-S02BK Combo Drive Blu-Ray Player

NZXT Guardian 921

Seasonic M12II 500W

BenQ E2400HD 24 inch 2ms Full HD

I have been lead to believe that this will be a beast and I will be blown away. I can't wait!!

I would recommend a nice Intel quad-core processor.

Fore hard-drive, look for a nice 7000 rpm with a "16meg" buffer for your hard-drive.

Your power supply is too small for the video-card.

Try a nice 650-750 watt power supply (try p.c. power and cooling brand).

I like the coolermaster HAF case for supper cooling.

that will be a beast but i think that the power supply might not be powerful enough to run the graphics card. If you do a fair amount of video converting you should download the program Nvidia made for that graphics card family called Badaboom. Its options are limited but if it does what you want, it will do it at least 4 times faster than just using regular software and your phenom processor.

Happy computing!
