A study conducted in India suggested taking a single capsule containing five drugs: a statin, aspirin and three blood pressure drugs, could significantly cut the risk of heart disease among healthy people without side effects.

The phase II clinical trial was the work of principal investigator Dr Salim Yusuf of McMaster University, Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, and colleagues, and the findings appear in the 30 March online issue of The Lancet. They were also presented at the Annual Scientific Session of the American College of Cardiology.

I'm often wary about new meds that are brought out by the pharma companies, but the thing that makes me think that this one just might be a good thing......is that none of the big pharma giants want to touch it!

Listening to Sky News earlier, they were saying that each of the drugs involved in this pill is so cheap to produce, there is little profit to be made in making it.

Plus the fact that if this one works, theres all those other drugs that they won't need to make any more.

Forget the fact that it could save millions of peoples lives, those greedy companies must have their profits must'nt they!

I'll try and dig out a link to the "no-one wants to touch it" claim, it's what Sky were saying earlier.

Caught this one earlier... many a reference to "Men our age" lol.

This is absolutely disgusting - a pill that could save millions of lives is "too cheap". Imagine the cost savings to the NHS, allowing more time and resource to be dedicated to more patients.

But, sadly, the price of life isn't as valuable as a ticket to hell for the Pharmaceutical giants. When did turning enormous profits become more rewarding than doing the right thing, and being known as hero's?

Shame on them all... shame.
