Caterpillar Execs Held Hostage in France

money.aol.com

PARIS (March 31) - Angry French workers facing layoffs at a Caterpillar factory detained four of their bosses Tuesday at the U.S. manufacturer's plant in the Alps and refused to let them leave the premises, union representatives said.
It is the third time in several weeks that French workers have seized their bosses to protest job losses as a result of the global economic crisis.

Typical French behavior in the face of any threat to their jobs, except the hostage taking part is a new twist.

My question is this - kidnapping is an extremely serious offence, where are the police??

Doubtless there will be no prosecutions in these cases, French workers are basically allowed to behave like anarchists, with no fear of retribution from the judiciary.

What a way to run a country.

actually its not new in france - the french consider it `normal` as is calling wild cat instant strikes and putting lives in danger by blockading a ferry

www.google.com...

In France, it is not unheard-of for striking workers to hold company executives as a way of winning concessions from management. The hostages are almost never injured. A similar situation ended peacefully earlier this month at Sony's French facilities

so with 3M , Sony, COntinental and now yours , thats 4 in a month - all with hostage taking.

maybe England DOES have a valid point about the french after all - since no civilised country would do this.....
