Well, we might be off topic, but at least we see eye to eye.

Here is the good news. The dark ages are a small period in world history. As humanity has advanced, those who seek to control the masses have continuously and fairly consistently failed in their efforts. As civilization has advanced, the masses have succeeded in increasing their liberty, and there is no reason to believe this should changed. We emerged from the last depression with the strongest middle class yet. Odds are that we can succeed again.
