Like another poster said how effective could these really be with stuff like JSTARS watching, FLIR optics etc? I would think it would be very easy to just see that there aren't tank tracks leading up to their position
Couldn't an advanced radar system tell they aren't constructed of metal?

These targets satisfy the needs of the most demanding military specialists in the world. Not only do they closely resemble real aircraft, tanks and other equipment visually, but they also replicate their thermal and radar signature. To radar and other long-range scanners, these dummies are virtually indistinguishable from real equipment.

Different manufacturer, but still radar-fooling clearly possible.
In the heat of combat not always there is a possibility to use all high-tech equipment or simply to check for tracks signs. So if from 3 destroyed SAM sites one was a dummy it still did its job, me thinks.

Actually as noted they give off real radar returns, heat bloom etc. The beauty of JSTARS is that it can tell how often stuff moves, where it comes from etc. Stuff may laager overnight but the same thingeveral days in a row may raise eyebrows
