to reduce possible evidence of police actions taken against protestants.

is that a spelling mistake?

or a reference to Glen Coe?

As long as the people think they are being watched you do not need to invest in the actual resources to do so.

Maybe the cameras are just old shoe boxes painted up as a multi-million £ surveillance system.

It's best to have them conveniently switched off just incase something big did happen and a public inquiry demanded the video evidence.

I wonder what they will be doing with the £15m if this is the case?

No, it's actually saying that 60 recently installed cameras cannot legally be used for the purpose for which they were recently installed. The 160 other cameras which have always been there are unaffected.

Someone c*cked up on the order front.

My guess is there'll be a legal over-ruling so that they can be used, not only during G20 but afterwards as well. How convenient .....

Worth noting that there are reckoned to be some 10,000 CCTVs in Central London (per Associated Press news story so losing 60 will not make much difference. Except for those who arranged their installation at tax payer's expense.

Whether or not is deemed 'illegal' to record police actions, it is not the Law of the people therefor it is NOT law at all. This violates jurisprudence and allows the police to do unto others as they would not have done unto themselves (violation of rights).

You need to ask yourself who the police are taking orders from. Most here on ATS have become aware of where these 'Orders' are coming from and who is to benefit.

'They' obviously don't want the world to witness what they plan to do to protestors whom don't bow down to the 'Order'. Then they will use the CCTV cameras of which were turned off as an excuse for the NEED for them. These people assume the masses are too ignorant to see their hand. Truth is, 'their' hand will become their worst enemy.

The best thing these criminals can do for themselves at this point in time is to retire to a distant location and take up a new hobby asap. World domination of the monetary system and world's resources will ultimately fail. Their game is up. They are scattering about as chickens with their heads cut off looking to achieve 'Closure' to achieving their End.

Fight or Fall. Educate yourself and your neighbors or 'be educated' by the State FOR the State.

Bring your cameras. Security in numbers. Anonomously post all video recordings of the event online for the world to 'witness'. This international criminal bankster cabal have worked via secrecy to achieve 'their' End, not yours.

May the world 'Bear Witness' and the 'people' take back their inherent reigns of sovereignty.

Those whom partake in the NWO should be aware that while they may temporarily benefit in the NWO scheme, their progeny will be slaves of the system. Hence, "Do unto others as you would have done unto you".....or suffer the consequences of Natural Law/Divine Order aka true law.

The camera's in question ae purely traffic enforcement cameras i.e they capture number plates of drivers who park in the wrong place, jump red lights, enter yellow boxes illeagaly (not too many folk actually know the road traffic laws when it comes to yellow boxes so easy pickings for the council!) and other minor motoring offences.

Our glorious socialist government changed the law relating to such cameras sometime ago but didn't produce any real detail on the new specifications until Westminister Council had committed to the contract, hence, the cameras were installed.

For the "dogs on string brigade" or "the great unwashed" this is a bit of bonus as, due to the fact that the camers are below spec by something of the order of 16 pixels (I may be a few pixels out but thats more or less what I was told by the camera manufacturer's) the images cannot be used in a court of law to identify people.

I'd take anything in guardian with a very large pinch of salt, they fully support this ridiculous effort of a government we currently have over here. The rag is generally ignored outside of student unions and public school common rooms.

This law came about primarily to deal with Football Hooligans i.e ordinary football supporters going about their legitimate business or just going to watch a game of football. The socialists do not like this at all for some reason so gave the "British Bobby" a law termed Section 60 (of the Criminal Justice Act) which allows the police to remove (or ask that you remove yourself) from the area if they "believe" you are likely to cause a "breach of the peace". This law has (ab)used to a great extent by the police so ordinary football fans "fought" back by filming the police on mobile phones, etc. enforcing Sect 60.

We now have a new law that probably isn't a statute (the socialist's tend to forget about the more complicated aspects of british law) whereby it is illeagal to film an officer of the law during their business (I forget the exact wording). It has been challanged several times with always a positive result for the wrongly accused but a lot of people have lost their jobs over this particular offence. I do have some links to back this up but due to changing to Firefox I've lost my bookmarks so it'll take me a while to find them again.

UK Metropolitan Police are using social networks such as Twitter and Facebook to monitor protests due to take place in London over the next few days. If someone already posted this sorry.

It wouldnt stop here. I suspect ATS will also be watched!

I plan to get some live coverage on the web. This is so commie! I wish I was there to protest.

Why do the cameras have to come down? Anyone have any info?

I welcome the cams coming down - anyone who has seen my past posts knows that...

But why now? This all smells incredibly fishy? Where was the ruling made and when? Does anyone have an actual copy of the press release?

With this little nugget of info plus the big meeting, if an attack or something bad happens, it would strain belief NOT to think government had something to do with it, if you take into account the inconsistencies of 9/11 and 7/7

YUP and how about all the footage afterwards off 911,
they don''t want that this time

I am one who doesnt believe in the 911 conspiracy theories. Yeah, yeah, I know, my head is in the sand. If something does happen tomorrow it would definatley change my view on the whole 911 conspiracy discussion. There is no way there could be that much of a coincidence.

this is the difference 16 pixels makes guys, SPOT THE DIFFERENCE?

Litrally unnoticable and pointless.

so surely if they made this 15m pound system they would have realised this sort of thing in the planning of it considering its the law, funded by the AUTHORITYS GOVERNING THE LAW? And what about all the people who've been caught by crimes through this so called illegal camera operation so they get away with there crimes because those cameras arent supported by the law? haha what a world we live in

16 pixels is not even 1cm

Unbelievable - This absolutely stinks to high heaven!! Everyone keep an eye on the goings on and keep us in the United States and elsewhere in the loop.

Sometimes, I think I configure "conspiracy" into about everything, but this does seem a little too convenient for comfort.

Just goes to show you who is allowed to be spied on and who isn't.

Watch for the heavy handed aproach by the Police on any kind of protest in the next week. I personally hope for an overwhelming amount of people protesting peacefully letting the leaders know how people feel.

Now there won't be any video evidence that a court can demand. Very convenient. Good money says that the ruling will be overturned after the G20.

Why do Brits put up with this kind of stuff? Here in America we wouldn't let this... er, nevermind.

Do you in the UK, have a problem getting media coverage of peaceful protesting.
Or is it just snippets of violent provocateurs?
Because thats what we have a lot of in the US.

Has anybody considered that they may actually be lying about this? I mean what better way to catch people, but by telling them some CCTV cameras won't be working? Hoping that someone or group that might be planning something NOW actually decides to do it THINKING that big brother is disabled in these certain areas.

I'm surprised no-one has brought this up. A basic example: You suspect someone is stealing goods from your company, but have never been able to catch them as they know where the cameras are. So, you 'announce' they'll be off from a specific date (let's say for maintenance), to all the staff of course, in the hope that the thief will drop his guard...and then catch him with his pants down

Just a thought...I mean let's be honest, why the hell would the mainstream media be publicising this NOW when security is a huge issue! Remember, the MSM wants you to know this....The burgeoning question is "Why?"

They haven't told which cameras have been shut down and there are cameras EVERYWHERE I don't think it makes a difference.

With the report of 5 arrested for plotting to disrupt the protest violently, it gives credit to the theory of a False-flag event.
