Just got done watching The House Bunny for the second time. It was actually very very funny. It has the love interest from the movie Superbad in it, cant remember her name, but she had red hair. And she played a very good part in the movie. Almost was the first time I seen Rumor Willis act, and I have to say she want bad. Very nice comedy with a nice storyline and lesson at the end.

Wolverine - 9/10, great action, good pacing, lots of action, good character development.

I read up on the characters on the Marvel web site before watching the movies, so that helped. Also, it was a lot of fun reading all these story lines. I used to follow the series when I was a kid and had time for comics. With the story line, I think they bit off more than they could chew. The movie had a lot of ground to cover, considering how developed the background for this story is. I would say they put special effort into introducing these characters for a reason. It seems they plan on making a lot of movies based on the comic series.

As far as Hugh Jackman goes, I think they spent to much time having him flex his muscles for the ladies, and not enough time with the fight scenes. He reminds me a lot of Mel Gibson, but I think Mel is a better actor.

Star Trek

9.5/10

Great job with the characters, great story line, great pacing, the movie keep you waiting to see what is going to happen next. Personally, I thought the new Kirk does a much better job than the new Spock. Kirk drives the movie, the plot, and he is the fire that keeps it going. The thing I noticed that seemed out of balance is that Kirk spends the movie getting his butt kicked. The original Kirk would always wind up in fights with aliens who for some reason are always physically superior, yet Kirk would find a way to win. In this movie, Kirk can't win a fight, and seems to stumble through on blind courage all the way. Oh, and why does Uhura throw herself at Spock?

The Davinci code.

7/10. Would have been 10/10, but Hanks didn't score with Jesus's descendant.

Angered much.

Here is a Spanish movie that really tweaked my bean.

El Embrugo de Shanghai (2002) or Shanghai Spell.

It is a story from the forties about a family where the father was a resistance fighter in the Spanish civil war and had to leave the country. A young boys grandfather arranges for him to draw pictures of the very beautiful daughter of this family. The actress who plays the girl, Aida Folch, is gorgeous. I would be surprised if she doesn't wind up making movies in the U.S.. The character is supposed to be the most beautiful girl in Madrid. The boy is much younger than the girl, who is a teenager. Anyway, the story has some pretty amazing twists. It succeeds in surprising you until the end.

Last night I watched 'Let The Right One In', a Swedish vampire flick. Low budget, but a great movie. Hands down the best vampire movie I've seen in years, perhaps of all time. I'm a lifelong fan of the genre, and this movie was great.

It's based on a book of the same name originally published in Sweden but has been translated to English. I plan to try and find it later today perhaps, I look forward to delving a little deeper into the characters.

A great movie, highly recommended.

By some miracle I managed to find the book almost instantly. I imagined that it would be a bit more obscure and perhaps more difficult to find.

Friday, with Ice Cube, Chris Tucker, Tiny "Zeus" Lister, and John Witherspoon.

Very funny series(Next Friday and Friday After Next are the sequels). Craig(Ice Cube) gets fired on his day off and his best friend, Smokey(Chris tucker) gets him in trouble with the neighborhood drug dealer. not your typical hood rat movie. Actually has a "guns are bad, unkay" message near the end.

I give it a 8/10

Walk Hard: The Dewey Cox Story

7.5/10

I'd been putting it off, because the Trailers didn't look that great.

I was pleasantly surprised, for a number of reasons.
Like Spinal Tap meets Walk the line.
Dewey is a composite of many Rock/Country legends.
a little bit of Elvis, Jerry Lee Lewis, even Brian Wilson of the Beach Boys.

It was done in a Mocumentary style, and to my amazement John C Reilly can really sing!..the sound track is well mixed, and the lyrics are hilarious.

It begins with a tragedy, and ends with one too. but it was a LONG WALK for Dewey. with many influential characters along the way. Most notably his brother, and the drummer for his band.

Want a cheap laugh? it's worth watching. John C Reilly is really one of the great actors of our time. Maybe not a leading man type (except in this movie). But man, has that guy been in a lot of movies.

and he really can sing

Will certainly be viewing that one -also been told to watch this film by a good friend.
If you like the genre have you read the book 'Bottomfeeder' by H.B. Fingerman -its very good read..but very disturbing.
I don't think they could ever make a film out of that one.
Cheers.

Absolutely. If you haven't read the book, I highly recommend you check it out. Let the Right One In by John Ajvide Lindqvist.

I blew through it last night, stayed up all night, couldn't stop reading it heh. I haven't read a book with such enthusiasm since I was a kid.

It should be available on Amazon or elsewhere on the net in English.

I went back and read your post, great review by the way I fully agree.

An interesting note however is that in the movie, Eli is played by a girl.

en.wikipedia.org...

I saw the film dubbed over in English, and they did a very good job of it. I'd be interested in hearing the characters original voices with subtitles however.

I can't imagine I'd have the stomach to sit through that even once, let alone twice!

SPOILERS!!!!! SPOILERS!!!!!!!!

Yeah i was speaking to chapter29 about that.... i said to him that in the book Eli is referred to as a child, but is a boy.

If you notice in the movie though.... there is actually a scene where you see that Eli is not a girl but a castrated boy..... so although in the movie we are led to believe she is a girl... that scene is more loyal to the book.

Plus the fact she keeps saying I'm not a girl and other such things... although, this could be taken to mean she is a vampire...

The book is cool...

The film is just as good though IMO..... it is beautiful.... dark and poetic.

Truly a masterpiece.

Awwww i hate dubbed films... much prefer subtitles.

I've read her voice is dubbed in the movie anyway?
For one less feminine....

here is the response to said question on the IMDB FAQ's section.
