Watched Ink a few nights back. I'd never heard of it and had no preconceptions. Started a bit slowly and just got better. A girl gets taken in her sleep by some kinda 'dark demon' character. Some other characters appear to protect and save her. The idea isn't original, but it works well. Kept my attention all the way through. It's low budget, Indie. I thought it was damn good, very involving and emotional. Rate it at 9/10.

Also...Black Dynamite...#ing ace. Blaxploitation with killer one-liners every minute. Fans of hip hop will nod at all the references to classic kung fu and crappy 70s dialogue. 9/10 with external support

'THE LIMITS OF CONTROL'

Very good Film which keeps you wondering till the end what it is exactly that the guy has to do... his end goal!

I mean it's pretty obvious from the start that he is on a mission to kill or harm someone but it's done in a different way to what you may have seen before and it kept me interested till the end.

It's subtitled in places but it makes sense to do it this way... watch it if you can... i'd give it a 9 for its unique way of doing things and for the idea.

2012

It was fun, and extremely cheesy, and it ends with a 'end of world Aerosmith' type song.

I cant stand the whole 2012 thing, so I went in grumbling.

Was OK, script was god awful, and at the end if they were going to throw in a rainbow, olive branch and dove...I was going to throw my choctop icecream against the screen....you'll have to watch to find out if I did...

Saw 2012 at the weekend.

Was ok... good effects but no plot and terrible acting....your typical EOTW / disaster blockbuster really, but more cheesy and more melodramatic.

5 or 6 outta 10.

Saw The Fourth Kind today.

And actually really liked it.
It was much better than I'd expected.
I've heard a lot of mixed reviews and probably more negative than positive.

Yes it had a phony marketing campaign and no it's not "Real"

But it is a good, scary and pretty engaging movie.
I liked the mix of footage, "real" plus the "movie" footage, Thought it added to the atmosphere.

To any ATS'er, I'd say go and watch it.

Made me jump a couple of times

2012 - 6/10.

Amazing CGI, amazingly boring plot, acting was fine except the main protagonist, he was damn boring. I especially liked the "scientist who helps the world"-actor, he was really good!

Go to the cinemas if you like great effects, otherwise, definately wait for the DVD.

The last two movies I watched are The Savages and In The Valley of Elah. Thought both of them were great. I'll give them both a 9/10.

Forgive me father Karlunghis for I have sinned, It has been 30 years since my last confession, and today I cant hold in the evil I experienced and need to confess.

I was dragged by my Gen Y staff to watch Twighlight New Moon.

I feel dirty, and came back home and got my steel brush out for a Silkwood Shower. I still feel the stain of this movie even after scrubbing my skin off.
0/10
plus one point for the eye candy of the Native American Werewolf who had his shirt of for 99% of his scenes. The Bella girl is a idiot choosing that translucent sappy gelled haired vampire Edward over that sterioded heman...yuuiick

Im going to shower again.

Paranormal Activity.

I quite liked this movie.
Was much better and much scarier than i imagined it would be.

I didn't like Spielberg's ending (the one in the movie) as much as the original (the one i found and watched when i got back home) but all in all was a good, original and pretty atmospheric and creepy film.

Knocked up.

I know i'm rather late on this movie, but I got it in a 3 for 2 blu ray offer and have to say I loved it, really wasn't expecting to, but it was really good.

9/10

I'd like to see more, a sequel would be good, as long as it has a happy ending

I am afraid that you have committed the one unforgivable sin. There shall be no forgiveness.

I recently watched a few movies.

Funny People:
7/10

A good darker comedy. I like the idea of what people do when faced with their own mortality and I thought that Adam Sandler really played the roll well. I guess it should have been easy since he is essentially playing himself but regardless, it was a good flick.

Terminator Salvation:
8/10

I honestly thought that this was going to be a festering pile of crap. Needless to say, it surpassed my expectations. I thought the new guy that they had playing the terminator was a pretty intriguing character. I got a kick out of the few tributes that were played to the previous movies. Good flick, even if Christian Bale has turned into a pompous windbag.

X men origins, Wolverine:
8/10

Again, came in with LOOOOOOW expectations. The previews didn't really do this movie justice. I really enjoyed it. The effects were absurd and over the top but it seemed to stay true to the comic books so that can be forgiven. Good action flick and borders on a must see if you grew up being a fan of the xmen.

4 Christmases:
4/10

It felt like I was watching a rejected screenplay for a "Meet the Fockers" sequel. Vince Vaughn was a little bit better than he has been recently but all in all, not much to see.

I've seen four movies in the last week.

Casino Royale

I thought it was great.

9.5/10

Stranger Than Fiction

I enjoyed this one a lot. One of my favorite comedies. Gotta be one of my top 5.

9/10

Syriana

Can't say that I liked it. Couldn't get into the movie at all.

5.5/10

The Jacket

I wouldn't have minded if it was a bit longer. I would have liked to see more of the Doctor and more about the treatment he was giving the main character. But, yeah, it was good.

8/10

I just got back from seeing "Brothers"

www.youtube.com...

This was a very good movie. Great script, direction, acting was fantastic and believable. Portman was great.

And if you want to see what old whaaa looks like; I'm the old prisoner in the first 5min. of the film, mopping the floor in the pen. and a later blur in a scene with a group of cons on a work detail, 3rd blur in a green Pick up in a street shot.

Livin the Dream in Tamalewood.

I watched 2 movies last night.

The Hangover: Hilarious!!! By far the best comedy of the year. Laughs from beginning to end. Score: 8/10 easy.

Inglorious Bastards: ehh, I thought it would be better, given the reviews I have previously read. Lots of blood and gore (typical for a Tarantino movie). A good half of the movie is in foreign language, so be prepared to read lots of subtitles, which will cause you to visually miss a lot of what is going on in the movie. Score: 6.5/10

Inglorious Basterds is Tarantinos first good one in a long time. The Dialogues are masterpieces of Humor but I think that many of the childish-fans he attracts with his comic-like movies wont "get it". When will people realize its a comedy? 8/10.

AVATAR

Holy Guacamole with a cherry on top!
ACE movie.
Story is nothing new, think Ewoks and Last of the Mohicans.

Without a doubt the best artwork I have seen in ages, truly beautiful, movie making will never be the same again, Cameron has worked out how to immerse us in a movie theatre rather than online downloads

9.8/10

The most Visually stunning movie ever... ever.

It truly is an amazing cinematic experience.
Gotta be seen in 3D and gotta be seen to be believed.

Visuals 10/10

Actual film 7.5/10

Cinematic experience... Unmeasurable.... seriously.

100/10

This really is a "cinema only" film.... it was made for the cinema... Cameron said he wanted to get people back to the cinema's and this is certainly the film to do it.

Simply breathtaking.

"Red Cliff"

This is the most expensive movie ever made in Asia and it looked like it.
Huge epic by director John Woo. Some of the most beautiful photography I have ever seen. A little bit to Bruce Leeish for my taste for such an enormous production. In Mandarin with English subtitles.
This was truly an astonishing film.
