You got it man, it's a relief that at least someone can see the validity, it's really not so far out there is it? makes perfect sense to me.
However when we get told the same thing for years it's difficult for some to break the pre programming if you like.

Well like I said, where meteors and so forth are concerned , I am hardly an expert. I just postulate and wait to learn how ignorant I am. In most cases I like to assume the position of my childhood heros, Bill and Ted. True wisdom lies, in knowing that you know nothing.

I'm not trying to press any points, really I'm not, I just find this fascinating. It certainly makes meteorites a lot more interesting, particularly where the big ones are concerned. In fact I would go as far as to say that the anomalous effects from the very large bodies are bound into the oldest human myths. The thunderbolts of the gods.

MBs induce negative charges on the Earth’s surface within zones of influence called "tension spots", in the same manner as thunderstorm clouds. (ii) Damage to TV, electrical and radio equipment, bulbs catching fire in switched-off electric networks, formation of St. Elmo’s lights, e.g. during the time the Chulym and Vitim fireballs passed over Siberia in February 1984 and September 2002 respectively.

(iii) Activation of seismic processes.

The effects identified in (ii) above form the basis for supposing that the main causes of the energy influence are electric (i.e. electromagnetic) fields. All of these effects were observed in connection with the appearance of small MBs (approximately 1 to 40 meters in diameter) that burned or blew up in the atmosphere. Imagine the scale of the effects that might occur if the MB entering the Earth’s atmosphere was a huge asteroid more than one kilometer in diameter.

Animals reacting to the electromagnetic disturbances, St elmos fire, orbs of light forming on the ground and shooting upwards, electrical appliances going crazy, catching fire, earthquakes.
The Tunguska, Chulym and Vitim events all scream of electromagnetic phenomena. Perhaps Siberia is one of these "tension spots" on the Earth.
Pretty crazy stuff, can't vouch for it, but it really would not surprise me.

Now after all that, here are some of the responses in the OP's news link. Just so to stay on topic.

Although did not witness this event, after reading some eyewitness commentaries, was intrigued by the fact that pets were obviously physiologically affected a good 15 minutes before being audible to the human ear, and yet another comment re: GPS and PC's going haywire or shutting off completely - THIS IMPLIES ELECTROMAGNETIC INTERFERENCE.

I heard 2 noises that night. One about 10-15 minutes earlier. The first sound was not as strong as the last one. I thought it was thunder. I looked out and saw no storms.

I think this needs to be researched more as I'm not too familiar with sonic booms but would a sonic boom account for being heard all across Hampton Roads and even reports of up to Maryland?? I wouldn't think a sonic boom from a singular object would be so loud and such a low frequenc/tone. It seemed like something of gigantic proportion to cause the sound and vigorous vibration that it did...

I was sitting on my front porch facing just north of east and a vivid light flashed in the sky like lightning in the northeastern sky. And then the sky lit up in the eastern sky and glowed just for a few seconds. And a streak and ball of bright white light crossed the sky on an angle from the upper left to the lower right toward the south and burned out above the trees. And then I heard what sounded like a sonic boom 5 mins. later. It was the strangest thing I ever encountered.

Our lights flashed and surge protectors sounded twice. Interesting.

My sister and i were watching a movie at around 9:20. at 9:30 my dog who has hardly ever barked went into a FRENZY! we both were very disturbed by this act, as it was very unusual. We shrugged it off after making sure she was ok and continued watching the movie with the volume cranked. at about 9:45 i felt more so than heard a deep, terrifying rumble in my body and bones. my sister attests to hearing the same thing.

Ive read through the comments and looked up quite a few web pages on the "phenomena" that happened last night above Hampton Roads. I really think it is quite cool! Just wondering if anyone knows why (if it was a meteorite) several people wrote in stating that their GPS systems and computers went haywire and some just completely shut off right around the time the lights were spotted. Am interested in knowing why and how that would be affected by a meteorite. Any input would be great!

Do we need more? Even in this case we have the signs of electromagnetic energy. I love the last guys comment, an observant, inquisitive mind is always good to see, why indeed.

from what i know this meteor was most prominent in VA, that is why VA was first thread. no thread started or newscast OR witness account of a sonic boom came from north of here. 10 minutes after i heard it i was looking for news but OP found it first. if a boom was heard, it was closest to 757. hence have you people further away not hearing it but seeing it. it was closest to us.

p.s.- what did kitty cats do on 9/11? are the animals only sensitive to vibrations on the ground? yes. tsunamis, earthquakes, temp. changes yes. but i do not believe an animal that can sense vibrations can sense something that is going to happen(meteor) rather something that is building up(tsunami/earthquake). did someone not tell you these animals senses are sharp and ours are dull? put a can of open tuna on your lawn to find out. cats like populace, they are social, so do not be suprised if they do not

double p.s.- nothing electronic went haywire before or after. 757 has about the same population as (maybe more maybe less) greater L.A., this is no operation you can cover up!

as a china man nor an amerian would i mess with hampton roads. let.

one more thing, right now at 12 o'clock or so, how many people's electronic equipment is messing up? given, about quite a few... without a meteor or raptors battling aliens. hundreds if not thousands of electronics screw up hourly.
