Egypt's Coalition with Iraq?, page 1

Please read the article above, and review the information contained therein. I read it, and came to the conclusion that Egypt has some sort of an
"understanding" with Iraq.

Here is a short excerpt from the article:

"Although Egypt, during the early 1950s, became the first "Third World" nation to develop a serious interest in ballistic missiles, less is known concerning its missile programs than any other country in the Middle East."

Why does the US continue to financially support Egypt's weaponry efforts? They give Egypt over a Billion dollars a year in Foreign Military Financing.

Is it just because they want Egypt as an ally in case of a war with Iran?
