Not that bizarre... it's a UNICODE issue.... same with language.

Wikipedia pages use UTF-8 character set so when you so when you copy and paste say Russian: Российская Федерация​ ATS accepts that

Windows default setting is charset=iso-8859-1

Now ATS is compatible with all unicode characters, but it can be a real pain writing in them unless you have an awesome memory or don't mind tedious code typing...

For examaple

Chemical Names...

Carbon Dioxide CO2 If I copy and paste this from any web I get CO2

If I use unicode I get CO₂

The character set can be found here for subscript 2. For use in posting in forums that have Unicode activated you want the html listing under 'encoding'

This is an amazing post. Extremely accurate and immensely helpful to new ATS members such as myself, not to mention those who have little or no prior experience with BBCode.

I took the liberty of creating an 8-page pdf document with a collection of the most important BBCodes mentioned in this post. I split them into their respective categories and placed them in tables with 3 columns (desired action, BBCode images from the post and what the code produces).

Unfortunately I can only upload the pdf at rapidshare.com, since I don’t own a premium account at any other file sharing website. I could upload it to other sites as well, but there are limits to what you can do without a premium account (limited times that the file can be downloaded, limited file size etc.).

Once you have the document, feel free to post it at any other place you deem fit.

If you quote a post you can see what codes were used, it's the easiest way.

I use and like this thread so much it's still in my favorites almost a year later

Great thread, loam!
I finally figured out how to make images to hyperlink thanks to you.
I'm having trouble aligning the signature image to the right, I get all
weird codes when I do that.
What am I doing wrong?
