Thank you, ATS friends and fellow members, for your comments and reactions to yesterday's photo post of my new home. I bought the place as a rustic little casa that had no water system, house wiring, nor other amenities. Just for fun I decided to turn the calendar back to around February before we got very far above ground but after a lot of excavation and underground work had already been performed - pilotos going down about two meters to bedrock for support, footers planted, and the big concrete square you see is the top of the aljibe - water reservoir - also buried about two meters down holding about 8,000 liters of water or over 2,000 gallons. This is necessary as water is pumped to us about twice a week and our own pump from there fills the rooftop tank - tinaco - that gives us nice water pressure for showers and other needs. That much water could last us up to about six months if it became necessary and without having to conserve or compromise our usage by very much.

Just starting the main work. The upstairs patio built first to put in that back wall for security and to give some time to study the property and plan the design for the main constuction. Temporary tinaco is in place for construction water for cement, mortar, etc.



A lot of work done at this point, but it's all undergound, pilotos, patas, plumbing, etc..



Some of the same landmarks are visible today, the palm. The bar is now sitting on top of the aljibe covering the hatch. With some luck we may never have to move the bar and open it again. -
