According to the article this photo was taken by a Mufon Rep. in Casa Grande, Arizona 1/15/09. this is a very interesting photo and it appears as if there a few different ufo's ?

In one of the most spectacular photographs ever captured on film is the elusive Orb UFO with it‘s mothership following in concert with it’s every move. Five Orb’s are seen in the photo below with their Mother Ship in tow in the bright blue light high above.

The photo was taken in Casa Grande Arizona by the State Director of MUFON for Arizona, Christine Dickey. Christine used a Nikon D 90, 2008 model, Pixels 4288 W X 2848 H, resolution is 72 dpi, bit depth is 24, 35 mm focal length F is 4.5, +3 step exposure bias.

The event date of the photo was 1/15/09 at 9:02 PM.

Not sure. Each object appears to be at an angle consistent with being launched/ fired from a central point below. The central object is traveling upwards judging by the trail. The ones to the left are traveling NW whilst the ones on the right travel NE. Like spokes on a wheel with the hub being ground zero. Flares maybe?

Looks very much like military night flares. I have seen them myself and there are numerous pictures out there of them. And it being in Phoenix, tons of military out there.

For example:

found the report on Mufon and a Bigger version of the pictures

I was out that night taking photos and noticed a fuzzy yellow object like a comet in the southeastern sky. These were very hard to see with the naked eye. I started taking photos and saw these objects show up in better detail. My eyes could have been deceiving me. I do not know if they are lens flares or not, but I am being told by David Sereda and other optical specialists that these are not lens flares, but I am not convinced. Since MUFON is working with another agency now, it might be worth taking a look at possibly. I notice things on these photos like possible aircraft wings (?), evidence of heat being released, plasma (?) It is really hard to say. These objects were all over the place, in the eastern to southeastern sky up to five to six objects at a time. Very interesting.

You can see the stars are blurred from movement during the 15 second exposure, which will make the objects blur as well.

But looking at them they do seem to be some sort of lens flare.

Edit: Looking again I think they're from the street lights

What do we think?

I noticed right away that if you rotate the group of "objects" 180 degrees, they appear to align with the corresponding street lights. The object that appears partially obscured corresponds with the street light obscured by a roof.

I don't know how you'd get such an effect from a single exposure, though, unless they reflected off an internal surface in the Nikon and were 'mirrored.'

I would be willing to bet you are spot on Chadwickus. The intense brightness of the street lights combined with a long exposure certainly could create the effect.

I'll ask Jeff Ritzmann to have a peak.

thanks Springer,

yea i would like to hear what Jeff has to say about this picture and the lense flare does seem to fit the explanation.

somebody might have to call up David Sereda and tell him he is wrong

They look like Sprites to me- and I don't mean the creatures. They are high altitude energy discharges- sort of like lightening... but sorta not.

An explanation of sprites, ect

Great Analysis Chadwickus!

The color matches exactly with some other street light camera effects I have seen before.
