Teenage sex has been going on for a long, long time, Juliet, as in "Romeo and Juliet", was what, only 14. Heck, I think they first introduced us as kids to that story when we were in Jr High, 12 or 13 years old, the ultimate love story about teenage sex.

those days people didn't live very long and 14 was a normal marrying age. Now that the lifetime has stretched out a bit, so had marrying age. The average marrying age now is consistently increasing, and is currently at 25-27.

If you had sex as a minor, even if you wound up marrying the guy and spending the rest of your life with him, you are being a hypocrite calling for prosecution of teenagers who did what you yourself did as a teenager. Arresting this girl will undoubtedly damage the girl more than her being sexually active.

For one, the amount of peer pressure I received was unbelieveable. I was taunted for being a virgin at 15.Though I personally didn't want to have sex, kids acted like I was a freak for it.
And you would be surprised how many girls had sex, but not by choice.
If there was no pressure, no stigma, no low self esteem, I really wonder how many females would choose to have sex.

THIS THREAD IS USELESS WITHOUT PICS!!!

You're all thinking it.

Me thinks the photos this youngster posted must have been pretty explicit for the folks at Myspace to involve law enforcement.
If they were "tame" or simply "artistic" nude pics, they could have simply removed them from the server; going a step further, they could have revoked her membership and called it a day.
But Myspace went further by notifying Law Enforcement, which tells me they must have been pretty bad.

I am incredibly sick of everyone trying to pass blame around. Do any of you actually remember BEING 14?

I lost my virginity playing truth or dare at 12 years old with girls who were 15 and 16. I knew exactly what I was doing, and I was in heaven. I wasn't taken advantage of, I wasn't preyed upon, and i'm not embarrassed about it.

Truth or dare, spin the bottle, the closet game....Any of those sound familiar, people?

Forget the parents, forget media, forget our times....Teenagers want to f**k.

This was stupidity. I'm pretty sure this girl isn't going to grow up and be a molecular biologist or an astronaut or anything.

She doesn't need counseling, she doesn't need a charge, and she doesn't deserve to have the blame shifted anywhere but on top of her empty skull. She's probably an idiot. Her parents should take away her camera and ground her. Bam. Case closed.

I'm sick of people thinking that teenagers can't think for themselves. Sure, they've got more hormones than a steroid junkie, but that doesn't mean they are incapable of being blamed for their own actions. Whether you're 14 or 18, you should know that taking pictures of yourself and posting them online isn't a good idea unless you are of legal age, and you're getting paid for it. Either way, there's a good chance that those pictures are going to end up in the hands of someone that makes you cringe.

Then again, you might not care.

Everyone just needs to cut it out. Let the parents handle this one.

If this was my kid, i'd take away her camera, and make her add me as a friend on Myspace. This would be after the month she spent grounded with no internet, phone, or friends. I would make her read stories on how teen girls have gone to meet up with an online friend, only to have it be a dangerous pedophile. I would explain to her that being so overtly sexual will attract a harmful kind of attention from a group of people that have no problem having their way with her and dumping her body in a ditch afterwards. Shock her into reality with it. If you try "laying down the law" too hard, your kid will resent you and rebel ten times more, or worse, go completely insane once they hit 18.

And that being said, kids need a little privacy in order to discover themselves. If you bottle them up and put your eyes on everything they are doing, they will miss out on a major part of the maturing process. I knew a kid who didn't know how to masturbate until he was 20, because his parents made him sleep with his door open, only let him hang out with male friends, checked on him periodically throughout the night, and told him that erections and the feelings that come with it are only meant for your wife and you to share. He cried when he had his first wet dream because he thought he angered God, and his parents wouldn't reassure him that it was a natural thing. They told him that he was probably dreaming about something he shouldn't have been dreaming about.

Thank God this kid turned out OK in the end.

I hope i've made some kind of a point.

Why a crime for being naked? Seems ignorant about sexuality to assume nakedness and so on means abuse.

Where is mom and dad?

Take the damn computer OUT OF HER ROOM!

Don't let her have a myspace.

Don't put her in prison...if anything the parents are the ones who should be in trouble for this.

This is the right approach to this entire thing. But there is a political atmosphere currently going on, that is trying to suppress human rights, I believe as Commander X revealed, a part of nwo, that would bring in a kind of Christian Sharia law, with a marriage between religion and law, and perhaps even executions for gays and adulterers. This is some kind of madonna/whore syndrome stuff that is designed to paint women into modest and controlled places.

To me this entire thing is politically charged and dangerous. The main thing is that the laws they have brought up here, are the same as the girl who sent a pic to her boyfriend on the cell phone, she cannot be both a victim and a perpetrator under laws designed to protect underage children from predatory adults.

she is going through hormonal changes and lets face it, most people around that age start thinking more sexually.

If a male can't use the hormone excuse to justify consensual sex with a 16 year old, then a 16 year old female shouldn't be able to use it to justify flaunting sex to an older male.

The girl should be arrested
The parents should be arrested

Nope, I have to disagree. She is the one inviting the predators and offenders to her. I am so tired of older men getting locked up and the girls get labeled as a victim, when they are openly looking sex with older men.

Older men, should be mature and adult enough, to say no. They ARE the adults. If people cannot accept that adults should be responsible for saying no, why would we even think the children should be?

These children, which I consider a 14 yr old, are products of this society, television, magazines, actresses/actors, as well as parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins etc.

We may want to blame just the parents, but we all know that as soon as children start interacting with the world, then they start having others who influence them as well as their parents.

Yes, parents can have the biggest influence, but how many of you, accepted and did EVERYTHING your parents told you to do at 14? uh huh

I as well keep a close eye on my children, but I do know that with my daughter being in High School, other people have influence on her as well as myself. At this point, I can only hope that the ethics I have taught her, and the choice making ability I have taught her, over rides anything that her friends might try and talk her into doing. As well as staying as involved as possible with her and her friends. So far, so good.

It frustrates me when I hear things like "It's a cop-out to blame anyone but the parents", as this takes away the truth of children, which is they have their OWN personality. They have their OWN brains. Parent's do not have 100% control of this at all times.

It reminds me of the old saying "kids should be seen and not heard", like statutes sitting in the corner waiting to be told what to do.

Parents have a lot of influence, we can teach our children to respect themselves, we can teach them about the dangers of the world, but in the end, being that they are a human beings in their own right, with their own minds, they WILL make choices at times that their parents will not agree with.

Blaming parents 100%, just says that children do not have the ability to make choices when they DO, it is just quite often they do not make the best of choices.

calihan_12 was correct in using the term "guidance", parents teach and guide their children, but in the end, being that children have their own minds, they will at times make (gasp) their own choices. Sometimes, those choices will clash with what the parents want.

eNumbra “If your friend jumped off a bridge would you do it too?” LOL my dad used to say that too. And being I was a rebellious teen I would say "That depends on the type of bridge and the particular friend" because guess what, at the age of 14, I had my own brain to think with, and sometimes made bad choices.

Peace

Well, I for one will not go back to those kind of primitive ages, and won't allow a new ugly fundamentalist paradigm to emerge. Before that will happen, we'd have to start a nudist society, because no one owns anyone, and can tell anyone what to wear, or how to wear it. Men are minority citizens, 48% by age 20, and then the gap narrows even more. Yet by their standards, they may walk around bare chested and yet set the norm for women. My body is only sexual when I chose it to be, and is not owned by any man, any politician or any judge. And I don't give them that power. Women aren't property. People who think like this need time machines as there are many repressive eras to chose from.

Look at your own statement, OLDER man. The OLDER man is the one responsible for HIS actions and choices. The CHILD is NOT responsible for the OLDER man's actions and choices.

Please stop giving excuses to adult men who prey on children. That is just sick.

so a sexually promiscuous woman is something you frown upon

but that's a man's fault?

When will people like you stop passing the buck?

I've seen countless floozies dress up like skanky street corner employee's countless times at bars when i was in College.

If you even look at these women and get caught, she makes a big deal of it.

Women are just as intelligent as men, remember?

So blaming their psychological dysfunctions on men is nothing more than 100% pure homegrown hypocrisy.

i'm not giving exscuses. Why dont you stop and read before you post

Im saying it's not okay for either party to have it blamed on hormones.

But....i wouldnt expect you to have understood that.
So let me explain it to you.

This 14 year old whore is posting nude pictures of herself on myspace.
Now, since we dont know the whole story, we have to assume her looks make her appear much more mature than she really is. (think physique...)

Now, some guys come along and view this page, because she's being flirtatious, and these guys get in trouble.

They didn't know she was 14.
But a naked girl is flirting with them. They have no reason what so ever to question her age, she looks old enough, right?

That's called entrapment.

And 9.9 times out of 10, it's blamed on the man.

Well, justice has been served.

She got what she deserved. And i hope her parents do too.

on the other hand

if she had been saying "come see me naked, im only 14"

Then yes, the men should be arrested.

I hope you can see my point now

I never said I frowned upon a sexually promiscuous woman. In fact, I'm actually careful not to judge another person's promiscuity in any way. I don't consider it to be my business. I said, that it is my choice when my body, clothed or nude is sexual. If women truly enforced their rights and decided to walk around topless tomorrow, it would TRULY be up to men to do what women always do, control themselves and take responsibility for their own hormones. I've seen some incredibly sexy barechested men strutting around in the summer while I'm driving, and had my knees go weak, but in no way did this endanger my driving or make me feel like assaulting someone. So on this issue, people really need to grow up.

The media as well as parents are to blame, in todays society eveyone os guilty, the media is basically telling young girls "you must look like these models to be cool, you must be this thin to be beautiful" and so forth, this girl just wants to feel the way the media is telling to look, sure she could of made a better decision by putting clothes on, but she's at a young age, in which she just wants attention, and to be well liked. Parents should have a tighter restriction on her internet brownsing, unless of course she has parents like mine, who have no clue of what a computer is capable of, but still, at that age my sister and I, no way in hell, would we ever post such things. Parents need to teach their children, what is apropriate and what is not, if todays society didn't have child molestors, rapists, pedophile priests..ect we could all walk around naked for all I care, but that's not the case, this girl needs to be talked to in a way she understands that what she did is not right, she's just inviting danger into her life, by punishing her we are not only wasting our money but traumatizing a poor child, shame on the system, and america.

I wondered when some underage kid would do something like that and what the reaction of law enforcement would be. I suspect a conviction would be thrown out on appeal since it was a self taken image, she was not profiting from the distribution of child porn and there was no "exploitation of a minor" by another person.

Seems to me it should be strictly a family matter and not the business of the government.

I live in an ex-soviet republic which is still run by a "communist" government. One I might say which keeps its nose out of your personal life and leaves family problems to the family. Also you don't get off your posterior and work..you don't eat. Used to be that way in the states. I often wonder who is living in a "totalitarian" society and who is not. More "world turned upside down stuff"

Just a note, child nudity is not the same as child pornography. I mean, seriously, its just a naked person, who cares old she is, it's just some stupid law.

People think "Oh, a naked 14 year old, that's terrible!"

But then "Oh, a naked 18 year old, meh."

Our society is messed up.

I think its wrong for her to be arrested, when millions of other people post nude pictures of themselves and get away with it.

i suppose on the flip side you agree that anyone that accessed those pics should be arrested. everyone who saw those must be a pedo?

It's the American way folks. Instead of helping people who mess up a little bit we prosecute and punish them through the legal system, and leave them very little chance of ever making anything of themselves.

It's a "dog eat dog" world, and the gov. is the biggest dog on the block. They don't care about the girl's mental health or her future, they only care about feeding her to the dogs.

those days people didn't live very long and 14 was a normal marrying age. Now that the lifetime has stretched out a bit, so had marrying age. The average marrying age now is consistently increasing, and is currently at 25-27.

So! If it was normal for a 14 year old to have sex 500 years ago, why shouldn't it be normal now? Are today's teenagers so much more emotionally fragile than they were five hundred years that they can not deal with sex, when they could back then? Just because they choose not to get married so young doesn't mean they should also have to wait until they are 25-27 to have sex.

Humans are biologically programmed to start having sex as teenagers, why shouldn't they do what is natural? The whole emotionally and mentally mature enough argument is based completely on principles that have nothing to do with the reality of human maturity. Some are ready, some aren't, and some will never be. In my opinion, people who look upon sex as something dirty or nasty or morally wrong are the ones screwed up the most. Why do you think societies dominated by religions who paint sex as immoral have such higher rape rates? Rape isn't about sex, it is about power, but that is another subject.

For one, the amount of peer pressure I received was unbelieveable. I was taunted for being a virgin at 15.

I gather from you post that you did engage in sex as a teenager. Personally, I was seduced by an older girl, and have no regrets. I would say that memories of the occasion have strengthened me many times when I needed good memories to fall back on. Still, to claim you only had sex because of peer pressure is one huge cop out, peer competition is probably more accurate. Doesn't seem like you turned out to be a waste case, so maybe it was for the good after all. It might have been good for you as well, even if in a different way, and if it was, then yo might want to recognize that such things might be good for others as well.
