Het Joegoslavië-tribunaal heeft nog twee misdadigers niet opgepakt: Bosnisch-Servische oud-generaal Ratko Mladic (67) en Goran Hadzic, de oud-president van de Kroatische Serviërs (50).

Volgens mediaberichten is de opgepakte een man van 65 jaar. Hij zou sinds 25 jaar werken op een toeristenresort in Kenia. Hij wordt momenteel gehoord door de Keniaanse politie en Interpol.

NAIROBI, Kenya (AP) — Kenyan police are investigating a man detained Thursday on suspicion that he may be wanted by the Yugoslav war crimes tribunal, a spokesman said.

The tribunal was established 15 years ago and has indicted 161 suspects. Only former Bosnian Serb military chief Gen. Ratko Mladic and former Croatian Serb leader Goran Hadzic are still on the run.

Police have yet to confirm the identity of the man arrested Thursday in the coastal city of Mombasa, spokesman Eric Kiraithe said.

The man's fingerprints have been sent to Interpol to determine if he is a suspect wanted by the U.N. tribunal in The Hague, Netherlands. The police spokesman gave no further information except to say the man was an "investor in Kenya."

Authorities at the U.N.'s International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia are awaiting confirmation of the man's identity, spokeswoman Olga Kavran said, adding that she could neither confirm nor deny the man was wanted by the court.

"We have no indication that it is anything worthy of our attention at the moment," she said.

Mladic, 67, is charged with genocide, war crimes and crimes against humanity. He is accused of allegedly masterminding the July 1995 massacre in Srebrenica, where some 8,000 Muslim men were killed by Serb forces.

Hadzic, 50, a former Croatian Serb leader, is wanted in connection with atrocities during the war in Croatia.
