We could make a one party system work quite well in fact, probably easier than a 20 party system, based on one thing.

Honesty, and integrity and oversight. We have to figure out a way our true principals will be adhered to. That's really the problem, the citizens tend to shirk some of their duties and responsibilites, and the elites tend to overstep theirs.

You are right again a one party system could work quite well, and I agree with your honesty and integrity, and oversight suggestions. But we dont need to figure out a way to do that, someone already has figured out how to set that system up. Plato did. And with some modernizing it could work very well. What is needed is a complete separation of leadership and material benefit.

So ur complaining that Barack Obama is taking money, essentially created out of nothing and pouring it back to America, ie, u, instead of taking that money and giving it to former buddies and corporations he has ties to like former people in ur government have done. No one was sayin a word when halliburton was getting billions of dollars from the government to reconstruct Iraq with no one who matters knowing if they even hammered a nail over there, but this guy is taking your money and doing something that at least will benefit all people wether u need it or not. At least Barack is trying to create enough money so everyone can steal and benefit from it.

First - great headline, up there with

"Small Earthquake in Chile, Not Many Dead"

"Extinct Bird Found, Eaten"

both of which look as if they should have come from The Onion but both of which were real.

Secondly, I've said it before but it needs to be said again and again...

In Communism, the State takes over the Corporations.
In Fascism, the Corporations take over the State.

"A general dissolution of principles and manners will more surely overthrow the liberties of America than the whole force of the common enemy. While the people are virtuous they cannot be subdued; but when once they lose their virtue then will be ready to surrender their liberties to the first external or internal invader."
Samuel Adams, 1779

It was true then, it is true now. We can still have an America that the founders dreamed of, but it is going to take brave men and women to make it happen.

For those that bicker "it's the left dems, or those neo con republicans".
Please, you should all realize our world has been socially engineered to render just such a result among us. United we stand. So to avoid uprising and revolt it is a simple matter to try to keep the country approximately 50% divided in ideaology. After all if either left or right wing ideas were to be allowed to put in practice to their fullest extent the extremism of either would not provide an outcome that any of us might like to live with.

Unchecked liberalism? "hey, I'm twice as competent as this fellow next to me doing the same job, I produce twice as much, why am I being paid the same?" "because we the government say this job is worth this much, that's what it pays, get over it, because it wouldn't be 'fair' to pay you more just because you are better at the job." So the better worker simply cuts his own production to match that of the lesser skilled employee and overall production in the big picture drops. The overall money made drops and the PTB that get the vast majority of the money cuts the workers pay to attempt to keep their pay the samel. This brings the whole system down by cycling this over and over. Eventually left wing socialismgives way to communism to stop the spiral. Communism=Socialism at the end of a gun barrel. Problem solved, work harder or get shot.

Unchecked Conservatism as in unregulated free markets and no government entitlements?
"Doctor, I'm sick, why won't you treat me?" "Because you are broke and your credit rating is no good, sorry". "Is there no program to help me?" "Why should those who produce have to pay for your care?" "Because I can't produce, I'm sick".
Or...."Hey grocer, why is this loaf of bread $3.00 when it was only $2.00 last week?" "Last week we had two local bread producers, the bigger one bought the smaller one and has no competition now. Better buy up I hear it may go up again next week" "But won't that increase demand and drive the price up until I have to sacrifice other things just to buy bread, which I must have?" "Yes, it will, but what can we do? There is no monopoly laws or regulation in a 'free' market".

These may not be the greatest examples of of the two idealisms but I simply mean to point out that left without the push back by the right and vice versa would be bad because the incentive to work hard and prosper would be gone.
(We're about there opinion).

This is socially engineered by those in the highest offices of power seeming to hold close to center, while those who speak loudest are the few, the fringe that push their idealogly to the extreme and inspire those that think like them to believe the center is just as bad as the opposite.
Gee did that statement even make sense? Hope you got my meaning there.

We fix it by convincing those hard core left/right folks we know that they must think with an open mind, realize there is hope in comprimise, and speak honest to God truth to one another, not propoganda.

No, they will simply label the group "terrorists" and start a media campaign and the general public will end up lynching the would be patriots. Not the politicians, who are the real terrorists as far as our Constitution is concerned.

Most Americans dont look past the label. If you are called a terrorist. You are one. If TV says its true, it must be. If you gut the US Constitution and call it the "Patriot Act" then it must be a good thing.

Pretty sad sometimes.

Well at least with Bush I got $600 lol. Obama I got a promise of $14 every two weeks for a year.

My advice to you: Forget party lines, they mean nothing. At least, with those two parties.

Precisely. The business interests own both horses. It doesnt matter which one of the "two parties" wins. It is a rigged game. Both parties serve the same interests.

The only way for people to win is to vote outside the two party system.

As if that's going to happen. The 'two party system' has the election laws written to where they will always have the advantage. They are automatically on the ballot while other parties have to continually 'qualify', etc...

The MSM won't even consider covering a candidate that doesn't belong to the two party system, and it marginalizes the ones that do belong to the two party system that doesn't toe the party line (Ron Paul).

On top of that, depending on who you ask, most people think of the two party system as the 'american way'. They'll characterize candidates outside of the two parties as communists, socialists, liberals, etc...

The "time was right" long, long ago. And the giant stayed dead. When the stones are falling on your head, it is already far too late to wake up and act. That time is nearly upon us.

And yet with all of that, the Constitution party still made it on the ballot. And, I voted for them.

The problem isnt "them" its us. When you take the attitude, "that will never happen" it affects your behavior and the behavior of people who hear you say it.

All we needed to do was vote. No revolution required. But its all the "hopeless" people out there spreading the message that "they are too big, too tough, we can never win" that helps ensure that we never will.

"The history of the planet Earth demonstrates one thing to us. It shows that those in power will test those who are not as powerful. They will use intolerable situations to see how much the less powerful will take before they wake up due to the pain it causes. One of the ways this is done in your Society is through creative lawmaking. It is the process to retain and usurp individual responsibility and place it under the dominion of Society. The more that the numbness has crept in through the enactment of elaborate and confusing distinctions, the more difficult it is to recover one's Freedom. They know that they had been successful in turning the human race into an unmanageable mass that knows its prescribed place in the safety of Society. The sooner the human race wakes up, the sooner the slavemasters must withdraw to reset their strategy. The slavemasters have been defeated many times, but it is a many headed beast. As soon as you chop one head off another attacks from your weak side. They have planned it this way ove rthe centuries of a passage of mythology that I have discussed with you and tried to elucidate for you. All myths have their basis in external reality."

It's a little deeper than overt politics. The visible is always ruled by the Invisible: Cause before effect.

I know, that is hard to understand.

20 I have already intimated to you the danger of parties in the state, with particular reference to the founding of them on geographical discriminations. Let me now take a more comprehensive view, and warn you in the most solemn manner against the baneful effects of the spirit of party, generally.

21 This spirit, unfortunately, is inseparable from our nature, having its root in the strongest passions of the human mind. It exists under different shapes in all governments, more or less stifled, controlled, or repressed; but, in those of the popular form, it is seen in its greatest rankness, and is truly their worst enemy.

22 The alternate domination of one faction over another, sharpened by the spirit of revenge, natural to party dissension, which in different ages and countries has perpetrated the most horrid enormities, is itself a frightful despotism. But this leads at length to a more formal and permanent despotism. The disorders and miseries, which result, gradually incline the minds of men to seek security and repose in the absolute power of an individual; and sooner or later the chief of some prevailing faction, more able or more fortunate than his competitors, turns this disposition to the purposes of his own elevation, on the ruins of Public Liberty.

23 Without looking forward to an extremity of this kind, (which nevertheless ought not to be entirely out of sight,) the common and continual mischiefs of the spirit of party are sufficient to make it the interest and duty of a wise people to discourage and restrain it.

24 It serves always to distract the Public Councils, and enfeeble the Public Administration. It agitates the Community with ill-founded jealousies and false alarms; kindles the animosity of one part against another, foments occasionally riot and insurrection. It opens the door to foreign influence and corruption, which find a facilitated access to the government itself through the channels of party passions. Thus the policy and the will of one country are subjected to the policy and will of another.

25 There is an opinion, that parties in free countries are useful checks upon the administration of the Government, and serve to keep alive the spirit of Liberty. This within certain limits is probably true; and in Governments of a Monarchical cast, Patriotism may look with indulgence, if not with favor, upon the spirit of party. But in those of the popular character, in Governments purely elective, it is a spirit not to be encouraged. From their natural tendency, it is certain there will always be enough of that spirit for every salutary purpose. And, there being constant danger of excess, the effort ought to be, by force of public opinion, to mitigate and assuage it. A fire not to be quenched, it demands a uniform vigilance to prevent its bursting into a flame, lest, instead of warming, it should consume.

President George Washington's fair well Address warning against Political parties!

You really don't have a clue. Try reading that 1000 plus page piece of crap stimulus bill. It all the same people with different titles, the sooner you face that fact, the sooner we can get to the real problems like the OP was about.

Keep in mind that being silent doesn't mean that Americans aren't preparing.

Don't believe me?

Try to buy an AR-15, Glock, or AK-47 in the US right now.

Try to buy some ammunition for a military rifle or handgun in the US right now.

Just acquiring parts for an AR-15 will put you in disbelief as DPMS lower parts kits are 600,000 units on backorder right now.

One Remington ammunition plant is running 6 days a week and cannot keep up with demand.

I have been looking for firearms in pawn shops and the cupboards are bare.

I have been told that some law enforcement agencies are having trouble keeping their ammo supplies filled.

Strange. That doesn't seem like silence to me. Sounds like a very loud roar of people preparing for something. I don't know what, but oh boy, it doesn't look good.

I can't believe after all that has happened that so many people are still interesting in the tired old left-versus-right punch-and-judy show. "My team versus your team, rah rah go team! I'm right an' yer wrong! Booya!"

Absolute garbage. One hand of the "powers that be" is manipulating both the puppets on the left and the puppets on the right to keep the childish audience entertained, while the other hand is rooting around the audienc's pockets and quietly fleecing them of everything of value (and not just economic value, either). Wake up, people! What amazes me is not that this is happening...its that people still think this partisan nonsense means anything...especially on a site like ATS where people seem generally more awake than elsewhere. I expected better, guys. You disappoint me.
