We must clean up banking system, Gordon Brown tells US financiers

We have to clean up the banking system," the prime minister told financiers at the meeting hosted by the Wall Street Journal's managing editor, Robert Thomson.

Today's part of Brown's tour is in danger of being dominated by events closer to home after the government failed to find a buyer for some of its debt. It was the first such failure in seven years.

Britain and the US had hoped to use the summit to pave the way for a further, globally coordinated, round of fiscal stimuli. Downing Street and the White House believe that measures taken at a national level can be trebled or quadrupled if coordinated internationally.

They have been heavily advised no more stimulus packages.

What is he referring to when malking such a grand statement
I doubt they will change their fiat money.

He offered no action plan for changing the banking system, just sounds like alot of hot air and posturing.
A actual plan to back up this statement would have given me some hope.
In the same breath he's still trying to get more debt money. He's changing nothing.
