GE has made the first flight of the new GEnx-2B engine that will power the 747-8F. It shares a lot of commonality with the GEnx-1B that will power
the 787 but uses a bleed air system to power aircraft systems, where the -1B uses an electric approach.
The first flight took the engine up to 40,000 feet and tested systems and instrumentation functionality. The flight lasted 5 hours.

It's a beast of an engine too. Look at the size of that sucker next to the old engine.
