I am not surprised at this either. I don't know what/if they were thinking, but when people get obsessed with money disgusting things will inevitably happen. Money in itself is disgusting to me, our world relies on selfishness, fear, and the repression of empathy to survive. Why is it that humans are so blind? Why is it that we are the only species capable of such atrocities?

We aren't. Animals in the wild kill (and eat) their young all the time.

We are the only ones that do it for money, though.

And, yes, these people should get the death penalty; life in prison isn't enough. This has nothing to do with mental illness and everything to do with pure evil.

But we hopefully have the sense that it is not right to do so, not so clear to tell with the animals. And it seems to me also that we have more options for survival than killing.

Most of us do; I was just pointing out that we aren't the only ones that kill our young.

Man . . . when I see what the world and it's inhabitants have become . . . the greed . . . the lying . . . the selfishness . . . the inwardly focussed . . . the sadness . . . the cruelty . . . the complete disregard for anyone else but oneself . . . the lack of any reasonable expectation of a bright future . . . the absolute inability to see how precious life really is . . .

Even sadder, we're so damned intent on being 'politically correct' we immediately consider these two wastes of sperm as being victims of mental illness and totally disregard the rights of the poor children they've abused.

A freakin' barbecue . . . objective evidence of past abuse . . . confessions of ongoing abuse . . . Geez . . . any bets our judicial system will have these folks out as poster fodder for some blathering gaggle of mindless morons who can't accept the fact that maybe these turds are just evil.

Hell, I'm starting to think that the business end of a twelve gauge against my chin with a toe hook to the trigger isn't such a bad idea because for the most part, life is disgustingly sick.

I think they're mentally ill, but hear me out before you start screaming at me. I believe mental illness shouldn't be a defense. These two deserve the death penalty.

Personally, I don't think they're mentally ill and I do think that mental illness is a defence.

Whilst the behaviour of the couple may appear to be the work of 'the insane' - purely because the behaviour is beyond the ken of most people, there's nothing to suggest the couple have any kind of 'diminished responsibility' here.

If anything the systematic fraud over a period of 9 months to a year underpins the fact that the couple knew what they were doing.
