That's the job of the parent's to raise their child the right way. To teach them morals, values and principals. And to show them why these are the correct things to hold dearly. It is not the job of government to babysit. And govt is to be small as possible.

To those in UK who love this, sorry, you can't say anything, your country is a nightmare and the worst thing in the western world in terms of liberty. So your opinion in terms of liberty... it doesn't mean anything because you obviously can't see it. When you still have kings and queens and you can't have a firearm, you're a peon, nothing more to them.

SO what does this all mean!? Since the economy is so messed up right now this is how they are getting back at the people volunteering them to do such curricular activities (Work for Free) out of their own will?

I definitely think an uprising is necessary but the word "sides" makes me fearful that it will split somewhere along the lines of "blue states/red states", or "democrat/republican". In fact it should be all the good people of the "united states", all American people, all states, joined together as brothers against these tyrannical pigs.

Wipe the government slate clean, burn the fed to the ground, exterminate the Rothschild cabal, but for sake of country... stand together.

A lot of fellow ATS members starred and commented positively to a copy of the letter I have posted below that I wrote to Senator Mel Martinez who represents Florida and my portion of it in the U.S. Senate.

I am posting this letter again though it can be found easily on the ATS Threads regarding H.R. 1388, to display and highlight that our politicians live in an alternative Universe that we do not. To prove this I am now posting bellow my letter to Senator Martinez the clearly states I am against H.R. 1388, his reply that I received today.

See how he responds to my entreaty, and keep in mind he is one of the big bad Republicans that many imagine want to save us from the big bad Democrats…

Dear Senator Martinez,

The new Administration in Washington and the new Congress seated with it are causing many citizens growing alarm and panic with legislation like H.R. 1388 regarding mandatory/volunteer/required Civil Service along with a nationalized central Identification System to promote it and outsourcing it to be run by contracting it’s administration to a non-government Corporation.

The language used in this bill is something I would have never thought or sought to see in the United States of America.

It is unconscionable that the citizen’s elected Representatives have grown so distant from the average American’s thinking, desires and needs that such legislation could even be crafted, let alone co-sponsored, let alone being brought up for a vote.

I urge you Senator as someone who knows all to well the shortcomings and perils to liberty and prosperity that socialism and communism lead too, to not only vote against this bill but to devote as much of your time and focus to encouraging your Senate colleagues to vote against this bill.

Senator Martinez additionally I humbly request you reconsider your decision not to run for a second term in the United States Senate. I can appreciate your published sentiments that as a Republican in the minority, that your ability to be effective and craft and enact useful legislation is your motivating concern.

Sir, Americans need you now more than ever. Not to craft and enact legislation but to remain vigil and in open opposition to defeat unconstitutional and tyrannical legislation like H.R. 1388.

If a strong and vocal opposition can’t be maintained in the House and the Senate during these difficult and troubling times where the majority seems to favor socialist solutions then our way of life, along with our liberties and values that once made this nation the shining example of people and government throughout the world, will be lost forever.

America needs you Senator Martinez, it needs you to safeguard America and ensure its survival and it needs you to help defeat H.R. 1388, America desperately needs you to support H.R. 833 to create congressional oversight and auditing provisions of the Federal Reserve.

These are the House of Representatives version of these Bills and both warrant the citizen’s representatives representing the citizens and not the corporate interests fighting for and against these bills or the desire on behalf of too many representatives to create more government for the sake of government itself.

Thank you in advance for your consideration in regards to these vital matters.

Constituent & Citizen

Below is a response to the recent comments I received from you:

Thank you for contacting me regarding serving America. I appreciate hearing from you and would like to take this opportunity to respond.

On September 12, 2008, Senator Edward Kennedy (D-MA) introduced the Serve America Act (S.3487). This legislation establishes a commission to study ways in which the federal government and businesses can more effectively collaborate with nonprofit and philanthropic organizations to address pressing national and local challenges. S.3487 also expands the ServeAmerica Corps, provides college tax credit to students, awards states and nonprofit organizations grants, and gives tax incentives to businesses who's employees commit to serve. The Serve America Act has been referred to the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions. Although I do not serve on this committee, I will be sure to keep your support in mind should the Senate consider this legislation.

Like you, I believe it is imperative for Congress to work together to produce legislation that address the growing need for volunteering. Community service provides invaluable support for our nation, and it is even more important that Americans continue down the paths that lead to a lifetime of service and improved opportunities. I will continue to work hard to ensure that Americans have the resources available to them in order to succeed.

Again, thank you for sharing your views with me. If you have any further questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact me. In addition, for more information about issues and activities important to Florida, please sign up for my weekly newsletter at

As you can see, what I am begging him not to do, he is assuring me that he will do exactly what I didn't and don't want him to do, because I requested it!

I have many other examples of both Democratic Congressmen and Republican Congressmen writing back to me on other issues where they cheerfully inform me they are on my side, representing me and will do because I asked, precisely what I in fact asked them not to do.

Houston we have a problem!

I'm torn on this issue. On one hand, I basically mis-trust the government and find the idea of forced service distasteful...BUT

We have had many episodes of forced service (military draft) and this country is still basically free.

Israel requires ALL able citizens to perform a minimum 2 years of compulsory active military service, and I see know exodus of young people trying to avoid it.

I think this bill is attempting to fix the many socio-economic and moral crises facing this country by "drafting" our youth into service that will in the long run heal some of our wounds.

Most of you hate the idea of forced service and your views will not change, but the fact is we are all "forced" to act everyday if we want to succeed. Those who don't "act" are the nucleus of many of the ill's we face as a society. By forcing these "at risk" young people to engage in activities beneficial to there communities or society in general we will acomplish two things:

1) lift them up
2) improve society for the next generations.

If these "service-learning" activities, that may or may not become mandatory, include cruel and inhuman treatment, hard labor, physical danger, then evry last one of us should obviously fight it, But if the act will require that all kids between 17 and 20 must spend some time working at a park, cleaning up streams, painting bridges, cutting grass, helping at hospitals, clinics, daycare centers, Sr. centers, Homeless shelters, rehab facilities, voting places, etc. Then I say it's a good idea.

It appears laziness will eventually be considered criminal. I thought the basis of capitalism was built around the idea that you get out of life what you put into it, which gives people who don't want much out of life(material wise) the option of being lazy and living however they want. If they want to crack down on lazy people should they not remove government programs which perpetuate lazy people first? If you are a lazy person who isn't living off government how are you affecting anyone, but yourself or the person you're freeloading off of?

As I've said many times, I think American could GREATLY benefit from indentured servitude. Only not of this kind. This sounds to me like free labor for corporations too cheap to outsource to India.

The servitude we need is in Congress. Abolish ALL those that now serve and enact a mandatory service for ALL Americans. Each and every person (of age) will have to serve 2 year in congress (and collect the appropriate benefits that the congressman would after leaving office).

It's an un-corruptible system that would force idiots that pay no attention otherwise to educate themselves and actually care about what's being passed through this craphole we call our legislative branch.

good post! Sad, but wtf its true.
I read the bill and pulled out some items of interest to me.
This reads as fascism but I didn't write the bill.

sorry for difficult reading ...the #s are lines of the bill.

imho this section is The OBAMA "Hitler youth program"

‘‘(13) assist in coordinating and strengthening
16 Federal and other service opportunities, including op17
portunities for participation in emergency and dis18
aster preparedness, relief, and recovery;

for those who have lost a decade of their IRA and stock market investment...

‘‘(14) increase service opportunities for our Nation’s retiring professionals, including such opportunities for those retiring from the science, technical,
22 engineering, and mathematics professions to improve
23 the education of our Nation’s youth and keep America
24 competitive in the global knowledge economy, and to further utilize the experience, knowledge, and skills of older Americans;

!!! take away retirement. Make them work untill they good third world peasants----IRA / Stocks killed their retirement so use them!!

And now for the eyes of the beast.
"They" have given you security from terrorists and in return have taken your savings for past and future decades. IN return you owe them service!

‘‘(17) encourage members of the Baby Boom generation to partake in service opportunities.’’.

16 ‘‘It is the sense of Congress that the number of partici

I agree with many here who believe and fear that this is just one of many sweeping changes that will be legislated in the coming months.

It is a frightening time in America and there will be two kinds of people.

A. Those that blindly trust the government and will reason anything it does is for the good of the people.

B. Those that believe in liberty, the right to free speech and our constitutional principals.

Those who fit into category A, will be taught, though many will believe all on their own, that those who fit into category B., are part of the problem. That those who fit into category B, are obstructionists, selfish, in pursuit of their own agenda, holding the nation back from the great things that their leaders have promised, and are trying to deliver, and would be delivered if not for the selfish, obstruction of those people in pursuit of their own agenda.

They will be partially correct.

For the selfish pursuit of one’s own agenda is an obstruction to Socialism, Communism and Fascism.

For the reality is that the pursuit of one’s own agenda is called:

Freedom, liberty, the right to self determination, also known as the American Way since 1776.

Many to the left, many to the right, many just naïve, and many who are just ignorant and purposefully stupid, will say, that’s the old America, it did not work, can’t you see? Look around at how pitiful we and the world have become, we need a new America, and a new American Way.

Yet what they will not know, in their haste, and fear, and anxious zeal, to collect on this promise of their leaders of a new golden age that can be gained by blindly following, sacrificing, serving, not questioning, and never resisting…

Is that if their leaders are wrong, if their leaders are stupid, if their leaders are selfish, if their leaders are blind, and blinded by gold, and all they can do, through accident or design, is to make the dream of a better future, and the hope that comes with it, a growing nightmare of today, that causes hope to recede, into an unending nightmare or tomorrow, where all hope is crushed, that all of this foolishness will have been for naught, and poor, disenfranchised, with out weapons or means, and totally distraught will be the grand new America their naïve foolishness wrought.

You do not know that? The naysayers will say, why won’t you give this a try?
No, I do not, to that extent I shall not lie, but neither do you, but along your path, liberty shall die. Then if by chance your leaders and hopes in them turn out to be wrong it shall be Swing Low Sweet Chariot we shall be singing and not freedoms song.

What fool would give up liberty, free speech, the right to self determination, and their right to defend themselves and bear arms?

The unthinking fool who does not know how to exercise them and just wants to get along, the kind of person the government thinks we all are for far too long.

For those who cheerfully promote this insanity you are singing freedoms and America’s swan song.

Please understand this, when the metal meets the road, and come to conscript me and a resolve of steel driven home by metal proves you quite wrong!

Anyone else noticed that it's going to be a black president that restores slavery to the US?

And I notice that all too frequently in these discussions, people accuse Obama of being communist.

Not really. In communism, the state takes over businesses in the name of the common people.

What's happening here is that Obama is robbing the common people, yea, unto the third and fourth generation thereof, to prop up the businesses for nothing in return.

In communism, the government owns the corporsaitons.
In fascism, the corporations own the government. See the difference?

But once you're time is up, that's it! No more "slavery" for you, and what was done in the process?

So YOU think anyways. I bet alot of Military people would argue with you here. Having lived at home, after their time was "up". And then, not surprisingly, being recalled to active duty because their government lied to them yet again.

BTW, I posted this same thread on 3/18 and gave a link directly to Congress, but the thread was moved from here to above politics because the moderator didn't think the link from Congress was news worthy.

Here is the link I gave with more information directly from Congress.

Even moderators make mistakes now and then, they are as human as we are.

Well said by many; we watch the dissolution of an America we thought we knew.

Those of you who laud public service - how can anyone disagree? Just be mindful of what the likely and ultimate realities of this upcoming public service will be. Perhaps you'll be the one to monitor a host of surveillance screens, constantly alert and ready to chastise anyone you see defiantly dropping a candy wrapper on the street instead of obediently placing it in the public trash can, your voice reaching them via the speaker attendant the respective sidewalk video camera. Or you might be scanning your neighborhood for, and ready to report, signs of carbon or other environmental abuse - the car left running while the driver dashes into his house for a forgotten wallet, the lawn sprinkler left on past the allotted hours. Or perhaps you'll feed the homeless, whose numbers keep growing. Or you might get special training and acquire the skills necessary to, if there's a pandemic or terrorist attack or maelstrom of public protest over the economy, direct your neighbors to the local gathering facility, or help gather up their firearms.

The list is endless. The irony in the given examples - and, to my chagrin, it's only now that we get to the razor's edge - is that the inane public decency laws that will allow supposedly civilized people to monitor each other's actions; the anything-but-a-scientific-certainty of the threat of man-made global warming; the genetically modified food and fluoride-laced, aspartame-ridden liquids supplied to you for distribution to the hungry; the terrible disease that is spreading through the city; the terrorist bomb that has killed and wounded many and triggered a fearful obedience in others; the economy that has fallen into a hyperinflation that has rendered virtually useless the money that so few still have; these are all being brought to you by the same powers extolling the praises of, requesting, and ultimately, through legislation, demanding your service.

The coup d'etat? - some of those whom you helped direct to the FEMA facility will be singled out for torture by agents who themselves have had 'special' training.

If you think the above absurd, no problem; you're just a little behind in your research. This is the road we travel.

But hey, go ahead. Volunteer.

FYI The Senate has not yet cast the vote on this bill yet. It has been placed on the Senate calendar. The vote was to place it on the calendar and to proceed to the final vote. It was placed on the Senate calendar for today actually.

Hang to your hats. If the Senate passes this, Obama just has to put his big old x on the line.

Since I know that this site is monitored by "them" and because I know that I am already on the "Red List" - there is no need for me to mince words here!

IF this legislation passes, I WILL NOT, my wife WILL NOT,my children WILL NOT willingly place ourselves into forced servitude! This total abrogation of the Constitutional duties by these politicians will likely require a full-fledged revolution in which they, and their ilk, will not only be overthrown but prosecuted and punished for high crimes and misdemeanors, including treason.

I honestly believe that these people have the God complex. It is high time to show them exactly how mortal they are!
It is nearly time to take to arms people!
