Stimulus? U.S. to buy Chinese condoms, ending Alabama jobs
Mike McGraw | Kansas City Star

Call it a condom conundrum.

At a time when the federal government is spending billions of stimulus dollars to stem the tide of U.S. layoffs, should that same government put even more Americans out of work by buying cheaper foreign products?

In this case, Chinese condoms.

That's the dilemma for the folks at jobs, the government is switching to cheaper off-shore condoms, including some made in China.

In a move expected to cost 300 American jobs, the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has distributed an estimated 10 billion U.S.-made AIDS-preventing condoms in poor countries around the world.

But not anymore.

The switch comes despite assurances over the years that the agency would continue to buy American whenever possible.

This is a major mistake in more ways than meet the eye.... The city of New York tried passing out free condoms that were made in Japan in an effort to combat the spread of the AIDS virus and the program did not work..... The reason was that the condoms did not fit American penises..... Sometimes it is in the best interest of everyone to buy American and keep people employed over here and size and fit issues will be avoided as well.

If them condoms are made like everything else Chinese, then I predict a large explosion in the US birth rate starting about 9 months after they start being handed out...

Well on the bright side those 300 people can find new jobs that don't cause awkward silences when people ask them what they do for a living.

2nd line.

if you had bothered to read the article, it says we've distributed them to poor countries around the world. It's the U.S. Agency for International Development, that means that the condoms aren't being used in America. So the birthrate here won't explode from crappy chinese products.

That is even worse. Some of those countries don't need anymore mouths to feed. If they can't afford these, how do they eat?

The melamine Chinese milk scandal was to boost protein content before the sale, hopefully they won't try anything like that with this product...

The aminopterin rat poison in the Chinese pet food scandal has side effects of weight loss, abortions, etc. Maybe that fits with the product, but the other side effects are bad, mkay?

The lead in the paint of Chinese toys scandal has the side effect of wristdrop, definitely a bad thing in my mind...

Dry humor.
