I was shocked today when I was transferring funds online to see that Charter One Bank is now listed as being RBS Citizens National Association. At first it looked like someone might have hacked into my account and added another bank to transfer money to. Then I looked up past history to see that Charter One bank is not even listed anymore.

I would not have known this if I hadn't done this transaction. I got nothing in the mail about this. What does this mean for my money?

Edit to say: I guess it was. I found an article dated March 22, 2009 here:

investing.businessweek.com...

Charter One Bank, National Association was acquired by RBS Citizens, N.A. Charter One Bank, National Association operates as a bank in the United States.

No, Charter One and Citizens are the same thing.

If I'm in Cleveland, OH, it's called Chater One. If I'm in Phila, then it's Citizens.
