For the average person the only type of ammo that is feasable to own that much is .22lr. I have 4400 rounds for mine and it only cost me about $120. For my Mini-14 i have 600 rounds, my 9mm i have 600 rounds, my 12ga i have 500 rounds high velocity 00 buck and 200 rounds of various sizes of birdshot, my .30-06 i have 200 rounds, my .30-30 i have 200 rounds, and enough to load my blackpowder about 500 times.

well how many rounds buy freedom...? thats how many we need...

How many rounds do you think one would need for a AR15,
say for a SHTF scenario?
Or 12 guage for home protection?
I don't shoot alot other than for practice.

we have a very large assortment of guns...and we reload a great deal... but if you love to shoot...there may not be what is called "to much ammo"

plus as you said there if "SHTF" we are more than prepared to arm other people and defend what is ours and not back off...

Good thread btw ... i happen to believe that ammo is expendable you need to carry enough to encounter whatever threat your discern to be most prevalent. if survival in wilderness is concerned keep enough ammo to feed your ... if survival against people is your concern keep 50X that amount of ammo.

you can buy about 1000 rounds of 5.62X223 for $200.00, 1000 rounds of 9mm or .45 for 50.00 if you reload ( which in a end of the world type of thing) the rest is just about the same, i would recommend you spend a cosiderable amount of time at the range first

Well the question you should be asking is "How much ammo can I fit in my house?" In times like these we need to stockpile tons of ammo.

I reload 45acp and get my supplies from the Police Clearing Houses.. (Much cheaper than civilians can get them)

Using "spent" brass it costs me 8 dollars for 50, or 16 per hundred and 160.00 per thousand..

That is using the absolutely cheapest powder on earth..

Loading with competition powder runs me just under twice that... About 12 to 13 dollars per 50, 25.00 per 100 or 250 per thousand...

New Brass is running be 11 cents per now so when I have to buy new brass the cost goes up accordingly...

Been reloading for about 2 decades...
