Don't be so sure.
I just traded in some of my hard earned points for an all expenses paid tour of Area 51.

Oh, the one in Disneyland?

Aside from about 3 applauses, the rest of my points have been accumulated the hard way......POSTING in threads as I hate starting threads also.

So I think by about 2024, I should have 10Gs at this rate. lol

They ain't gonna get you an all expenses paid holiday in Hawaii, or a weeks free stay in the Bridge Suite at the Atlantis resort in the Bahamas, or a free ride to the ISS and back or even a round trip to the Moon!

Not yet anyway, but we can dream, can't we?

I got most of my points by podcasting, but it's been a while.

Might have to dust off the old microphone though, since I'm saving up for the Harrier Jet.

If only points actually measured how much a given poster contributes to the knowledge pool on ATS! Imagine that....

Instead we are stuck with a point system that shows which poster has best commercialised ATS and a applause system that shows which posters are 'nicests' and has the least disagreements with their fellow netizens.

Oh well.

/me continues dreaming of a far less imperfect world.

Stellar

You can join Twitter on ATS and get 5,000 points.

You can do articles and artwork for tinWiki and get up to 10,000 points per article and points per piece of artwork.

Plus, different forums have different point amounts for posts and responses.

You shouldn't worry about points, though. Its the quality of your contributions that count, not the quantity of your points.

I do worry about points unfortunately. I cannot afford anything in the ATS store besides changing bandwidth. I've made lots of posts and still am on such a low number. Then you write a post that some moderator does not agree with and you lose x amount of points just like that.

Using stuff from the ATS store makes your post more attractive and appealing and this usually leads to your posts being taken more seriously. The people with huge amounts of points don't have to pay anything to use any of the features on the store. Thus they forget about the average people who cannot even afford a custom first line.

Well you could gain some serious points if you had some hardcore facts, lets say, you break into area 51..hehe, then again you could try to do some research on an issue which you feel comfortable with and cross reference it with sources all the time making sure that it has not been covered in full within this site.

But i would not worry about points, just enjoy the site and try to be as constructive as possible.

Then again what do i know.
