So you purchase guns for protection against people with guns?
There's a lot of irony there.
But still, taking that into account, how does the Government keeping tabs on the ammunition you purchase effect your self-defense against criminals exactly?

go read 1984, take two days to think about what you read, and then come back here and explain you thought on this subject.

[So basically you're having a cry about having to fill out forms, dude stfu. Guns are obviously dangerous, they need and should be controlled in order to check how much of what is being bought so if guns are being misused, the owners can be delt with properly. That's simple and straight forward.
In OUR Country we have this as a RIGHT. Arms doesn't just mean Guns, it means all arms, all weapons and ammo. I will NOT fill out any forms to buy ammo and no one else should either. People need to stop being Sheep and Stand up. By the way telling someone to "stfu" is low and I was under the belief that on ATS we didn't do such things.
There are already Laws on the books dealing with crime-we do not need anymore pointless laws.

Last I checked the coded Ammo Can STILL BE SOLD after June 30th.
Sorry you don't want your bullets 100% traceable... But if you're putting them into someone and they shouldn't be; well I guess you'll just have to be held accountable.
It's not about disarming Legitimately armed citizens. It's about making it harder for a criminal to pull a trigger and not be prosecuted for their crime.
I'm not a gun advocate, but I'm damn well NOT for disarming either...
That said I see absolutely nothing wrong with coded ammo.
I for one know If I ever have to kill someone I have a completely justifiable reason to do so; to the extent of being justifiable within a court of Law.

bring it!
Edit to Add: Also nice to add anUNDETERMINED
Snopes Link as proof! Really makes your story that much more believable!

I read 1984 years ago, what's you're point? What? - you think the government is going to turn big brother on you because of the increased cost of ammo?

Please Contact Your State Legislators Today!
Last week, Senate Bill 541 was introduced by State Senator Rodger Smitherman (D-18). SB541 would require all handgun ammunition manufactured or sold in Alabama to be encoded with a serial number, and entered into a statewide database at the time of sale. Encoded ammunition would be registered to the purchaser and would include the date of transaction, the purchaser’s name, date of birth, driver’s license number, and the serial number of the ammunition. All unserialized ammunition would have to be forfeited. Not only would this measure cause enormous increases in the cost of ammunition, but it could lead to the establishment of a database of ammunition purchaser and ultimately the cessation of the sale of ammunition in Alabama.
