KABUL (AFP) - The US military said that Afghan and foreign troops killed 33 militants in some of the heaviest fighting this year in Afghanistan , which is gripped by mounting Taliban insurgent violence.

It said that 30 militants died Thursday in the flashpoint southern province of Helmand, in the same district where a key anti-Taliban lawmaker was killed in a Taliban bomb attack the same day.

The toll was the biggest from a single clash announced by the military in more than two months, with Afghanistan gearing up for another year of intense fighting with the Al-Qaeda-linked Taliban after the winter months

33 rebels killed in one single clash and we are up in arms over 2. we are must cry for the fallen soldiers fighting a corporate war even though their sacrifice seems so broken. it would not be good for their families to realise australia knows they dieing for a hollow cause.
